Introduction

Updated in 2013, the National Response Framework provides for a “whole community” system of response during times of catastrophic events such as a terrorist attack. It is one of five documents of the National Planning Frameworks. The NRF incorporates 14 elements of the National Preparedness Goal, including planning, public information and warning, operational coordination, critical transportation, public and private services and resources, and much more. Critical tasks of the NRF include protective measures and life-sustaining actions such as delivering credible messaging to the public during ongoing emergency operations.
