NRLI Alumni BOD Meeting NotesApril 12, 2011

Next NRLI BOD meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 10

at 3pm.T-shirts T-shirt order is completed. Bryan will collect t-shirts on Friday. T-shirts will be for

sale at graduation for $20. Shirts cost a total of $225.Professional Development

There are 13 people attending the training. Paul is making final arrangements for social based marketing training, which will be held

at a meeting room at GRU, Gainesville. Training will be held from 12 to 4 pm.Graduation Reception, Dinner and Awards

Starts at 5.30 pm. Menu is similar to last year. Maps and information about the fieldtrip will be on a display table. Order drinks at the bar! The annual leadership award will be presented to the late Bob Tietz. Both Burl and

Bryan will introduce and present the leadership award to his wife and two sons. Therewill be a slide show to commemorate Bob.

Laila suggested that the board consider renaming the annual leadership award in honorof Bob. A motion was passed by the board and the annual award will now be calledRobert Tietz award for natural resources leadership.

There will be two other awards and these will be the awards for the class challenge.Field trip

Field trip will be held at Poe Springs. Attendees will leave Gainesville at 9 am and the field trip will be at the Spring

from about 9.30 through 11 am. There will be three speakers; Dr. Bob Knight (Howard T. Odum Florida Springs

Institute), a person from Alachua County involved in land acquisition, and FritziOlson, who heads up Current Problems Inc. a local NGO working on waterresource issues.

After 11 am and the annual alumni association meeting will be held. This will bea short meeting for about hr.

Lunch be held at the Great Outdoors in High Springs at about 12 pm.

Alumni Association Hank Vinsons spot is vacant on the board of directors and about one year remains on

his term. There was discussion about adequate participation on the board of directors. The

alumni byelaws maybe changed at the annual meeting to reflect this discussion. Wording might include something like if three alumni meetings are missed without

communication to the Board of Directors, the person maybe asked to step down.. There were four nominees from this years class to participate in the alumni association.

At present there are two positions available.Newsletter

The Spring newsletter will be produced after Spring graduation. It will cover the professional training, graduation, field-trip and information about

the upcoming class. There may be one or two articles submitted by alumni. New deadline for submission of articles is May.
