Graphs of Linear Inequalities with Sliders
Summary
• In this tutorial, you’ll explore the graphs of Linear Inequalities using sliders. The steps in the tutorial include:– Creating a Graph Window.– Configuring two sliders. – Linking the sliders to a Linear Inequality in slope-
intercept form.– Manipulating the Sliders.
Create a Graph Window
Click on the + tool to activate this menu.
Create the First Slider
By default the keyboard is active. Click on the Keyboard button to deactivate it.
Create the First Slider
Click on Menu. Select Actions > Insert Slider.
Configure the First Slider
This slider is for m in the slope-intercept form. Configure as shown. Press OK.
Move the Slider
Press and hold the Slider to bring up the option for moving it. Select Move and reposition the slider.
Move the Slider
Position the Slider as shown.
Create the Second Slider
Click on Menu. Create the second Slider.
Configure the Second Slider
This slider is for b in the slope-intercept form. Configure it as shown. Click OK.
Move the Slider
Repeat with the second Slider and place both in the area shown above.
Input the Slope-Intercept Form
Activate the Function Entry Line by clicking on + in the upper-right-hand corner. Press the Delete key and
input the inequality shown. Press Enter.
Input the Slope-Intercept Form
The graph shown uses the values for m and b in the sliders.
Manipulate the Sliders
Change the values on the sliders by sliding the arrows at the bottom of each Slider. The graph will update.
