I. Project Title: Renovation of the Dead Road Association
KISSEA, Manggahan Talomo Chapel
II. Rationale:
The project is meant to supply repairs and comfort and convenience
to the chapel of Maggahan, Talomo Davao City, and to repair its signage
for better recognition. For the repairs, the group will need paint, wood,
nails, new electric fans, new fluorescent lights, polyethylene foams, and
few furniture and cloth decors. The old chapel is not in a good state which
makes it hard to conduct daily religious meetings. For the signage, the
group will also need paint to make the content of the signage clear. These
things will provide convenience and recognition for the people in the
community.
III. Project Objectives:
The first part of our project is to give recognition to our assigned
community, Dead Road Manggahan in Talomo. The group plans to repair
the signage of the village. People around could easily know the entrance
of the village with newly repainted signage that will be located exactly
beside the street entering the little community. Giving recognition to our
assigned place is very important because with this, we will be able to
make the village exist.
The second part of our project aims for the renovation of the
community chapel. Meetings are constantly held there and the people
involved would likely benefit from the convenience and comfort that our
group can give after the success of our renovation project. Our objectives
for choosing the chapel to be renovated are not only for the benefit of the
people who meet to pray and celebrate mass. A lot of people would be
enticed to visit. Another purpose of the renovation of the chapel is to
ensure the safety and security of the chapel structure. As for what our
group had observed, the chapel is not really in a good state right now, the
frameworks and wood that build are not fitted properly, head of the nails
are sticking out, and one side of the wood would likely collapse. Also in
time of sunny and rainy weather, the chapel is not in the state of securing
the physical and emotional conditions of the villagers.
IV. Expected Output:
Within five Saturdays, Everything is accomplished. The signage is
newly painted, thus other people will be able to recognize the place. The
chapel will also possess more durable electric fans and PE foam, which is
a good heat insulator, will be attached to the roof. Both of this will give
comfort to the people occupying it, especially at hot seasons. The chapel
will also have more lights, one at the center, another for the priest and
readers, and a small light for the altar. And finally, the windows, walls and
the door will be properly framed, thus furnishing and painting will go
smooth, making the chapel as good as new. Cloth decors such us window
curtains and table mantle will also be seen.
At last, everything is set with the cooperation of the group
members, the purok leader and the volunteered workers from the
community. Everyone will be gathered for a celebration, a mass will be
held in the chapel and snacks will be shared for everybody. The achieved
project is expected to help the residents grow closer to one another, and
grow closer to God.

Sources of Funds:
The fund for our project will be a donation from our very own group, FORTES. And we are willingly donating Php8000 for the project implementation.
VI. Important Assumptions:
Weather conditions during the project implementation
The groups budget for the project
Attendance of the group members and its cooperation to achieve
fast and efficient implementation of the project
Availability of the materials needed for the repair and beautification
of the chapel and the signage such as paint, wood, ceiling fans,
nails, hammer and etc.
Creative ideas from the group members
Active participation of the community members, that is to be
headed by the purok leader, through helping the group during the
repair and beautification.
Project implementation should be finished within the five Saturday
working time of the group.
VII. People Involved:
Community Leader – the community leader will assist our group
throughout the implementation of the project. She will be able to gather
residents who are willing to volunteer in imparting man power in repairing
the dilapidated parts of the chapel. The community leader will also assess
the development of the chapel.
Group Members – The group members who propose this project will
act as supervisors in repairing the dilapidated parts of the chapel. The
group members will also participate in the repairing of the chapel. Group
members made do carpentry, painting, cleaning, designing and planning
and can lend some carpentry tools that could be use in the project
implementation. There will also be specific people who will be assigned in
gathering the data of the available prices of the materials needed for this
project. There will also be some group members who are assigned in
hiring workers to help us in this project.
Residents – The residents of the purok, Nansita Makiling, may
volunteer in imparting man power in repairing the damage part of the
chapel.
Workers – The workers hired in repairing the chapel will be the main
source of man power. They will be the ones who will work in difficult jobs
in the repairing of the chapel.
VIII. Monitoring/Evaluation:
In assessing the impact of our project to the residents, we will conduct an interview
to those who are living near the renovated chapel and signage. Two people will conduct the
interview and use the information gathered to tell whether our project is successful of not.
If the result of the interview is good, then we can say that our project is successful.
We will also be holding a mass in the chapel in order for us and the residents to
experience the newly developed church and to determine whether it is better, more
comfortable and convenient than before. With this, we will also be able to know whether
the polyethylene foams that we attached to the roofs and the electric fans are able to
control the temperature of the rooms especially at hot seasons.
Also, we will be evaluating whether the signage is highly visible even at night in
order for all the people to recognize the place.
And to overall evaluation will lie on the residents of Manggahan, Talomo whether
they will appreciate our efforts and the results of the said project.
