The New Testament Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The NTCG has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We believe:

1. In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.

2. In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.

5. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.

7. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.

8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.

9. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

10. In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptised in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

11. Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

12. In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.

13. In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.

14. In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Administrative Bishop

In the last prospectus, I talked about the pending transition that would be taking place at the end of

2018. I am pleased to report that Rev. Delroy Henry is becoming well settled into his role as the Education Director.

In 2023 the New Testament Church of God will be celebrating its 70th year of Ministry here in England and Wales. We aim to maintain our track record at the cutting edge of ministry. The Leadership Training Centre (LTC) will also be required to maintain its important role in the training of our leaders and to develop emerging leaders through life-long educational opportunities.

As Administrative Bishop, one of my overriding priorities is to support all those who are called into ministry and ensure that the necessary means are in place to enable and empower them to serve to the best of their ability. The LTC has been instrumental in the provision of up-to-date practical and theoretical training for our church leaders rooted in Pentecostal theology. The positive outcomes are becoming evident, and for that, we give thanks to the Lord in anticipation of greater results in our pursuit of excellence.

I pray that we seize the opportunities to study and learn to lead with wisdom and in so doing, model best examples in our various practices of ministry. To this end, I encourage every Pastor to use the LTC in the interest of our goal to develop our leadership, not forgetting the laity and especially 18-35 year olds.

Bishop Dr. Donald BoltAdministrative BishopNTCG England and Wales

National Director of Education

Since the formation of NTCG’s theological institution nationally, there is a huge expansion and pursuit for

learning opportunities, particularly, theological education and ministerial formation. Equally, there is an increase in training needs, change in local and national demographics, growth in the demand for the development of leadership, and essential life-long learning. The Leadership Training Centre (LTC) has produced this comprehensive two-year prospectus which offers details of a wide range of courses that promote theological education and ministerial training to enrich and enhance ministry practice of our local, national and international Christian witness for; laity, pastors, ministers, leaders, and emerging young leaders.

Due to the ever-changing demands to utilise advanced technological approaches to the delivery of training and education, LTC and the Heritage Centre together with our academic partners have been developing a range of strategies and resources for enhanced teaching and learning. LTC’s courses adapt to a blended learning approach which contributes to fulfilling LTC’s quest and mission of building confident, committed leaders.

I am honoured to be called to serve in God’s kingdom to accomplish this central role of contributing towards the process of engaging our members, preparing leaders to enhance their practice of ministry and develop academic rigor rooted in an understanding informed by research and scholarship within our Pentecostal tradition. I therefore, invite potential students to avail themselves of their chosen programme of studies and courses offered by LTC.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

37

NTCG has a partnership with All Nations Christian College. Students studying with NTCG and who have an equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree (in any field), and at least 2 years working and ministering cross-culturally, can progress to do postgraduate studies with All Nations, including an MA in Multicultural Church in Practice or an MA in Global Ecclesiology. The former is on helping (potential) ministers to understand and be equipped for ministry in a multi- cultural church context and think through how to effectively minister and lead a congregation made up of people from a diverse range of cultures. The second is for those involved in church based ministry (evangelism, church planting, pastoral ministry), and who are committed to deepening their understanding of how church is impacted by the local and global contexts and what constitutes a missional church.

For further information, please contact the Leadership Training Centre.

The Leadership Training Centre in partnership with the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS) have created a 5 year programme of study for Church leaders - 3 years via LTC and 2 years via PTS. The programme includes (a) theological, ministerial, and leadership training that embodies the Holiness-Pentecostal faith values of Christian tradition and (b) progression routes to advanced and accredited ministerial learning opportunities at PTS.

For further information contact the Leadership Training Centre.

Queen’s is committed to empowering existing and emerging leaders of Black Majority and Pentecostal Churches through theological education and training. A taster course in Theology is offered each year and is a great place to start. It introduces you to the skills needed for studying theology at Higher Education level. Those who complete the taster course, or who have other prior learning at the Leadership Training Centre, for example, can apply to do a Certificate in Higher Education, which is validated by Durham University. This is normally done part time (evenings and scheduled weekends) but may be done full time. If you complete this successfully you can continue to a Diploma or BA – in Theology, Ministry and Mission. For existing and emerging leaders a new and exciting post graduate programme will be on offer in 2018 with a pathway tailored for leaders in Black Majority and Pentecostal Churches. Here are two testimonials from current students: “I am studying a BA in Theology, Ministry and Mission part time, and it is equipping me for ministry from a personal, practical, theoretical and professional perspective” (Conrad Miller, NTCG Dudley). “Studying at Queens has given me a much needed theological foundation for effective ministry in my local church. It has also opened the door to the field of black theology and I intend to mine its treasures” (Nathan Turner, NTCG The Rock).

The Heritage Centre is a pioneering initiative to make the heritage of the NTCG and its Pentecostal tradition accessible to all. It seeks to introduce and engage visitors to the importance of the heritage through its resources in ways which stimulate interest, questioning and investigation to enhance knowledge, generate new insights and learning about the Church of God, Black Majority Churches, Pentecostalism and our contribution to the religious landscape locally, nationally and globally.

The Centre includes the Roswith Gerloff Collection. Dr Gerloff, (1933-2013) produced some influential work on the social, cultural and missiological merit of the African Caribbean Diaspora contribution to Black Pentecostalism and ecumenism in Britain.

This is, indeed, a unique collection and is of considerable value. It covers a period of history that needs to be preserved and without this collection is in danger of being lost. I have benefited from Dr Gerloff’s research and her unparalleled insight into the development of black Pentecostal Churches and their particular relevance to the British situation.Dr Clifford Hill, Issachar Ministries

I had the privilege of visiting the Centre in September 2018 for the first time and was delighted to be able to reminisce about the early days of the NTCG and to follow its progression to the present day. That was very special. It brought home to me the sacrifice of the founders and early members…Decima Francis MBE

We embarked on the third series of our Oliver Lyseight Annual Lecture in 2018 under the banner of ‘Womanhood in Christian Faith Communities.’ These lectures are delivered in commemoration of our founding Administrative Bishop, Rev Dr. Oliver Lyseight. This series focuses on the contribution women continue to make to the life and witness of the Church, even in the face of barriers such as unconscious bias and resistance to their input in its fullness.

The five lectures provide opportunities for our denomination to critically reflect on the treatment and experience of women in our polity and draw on Scripture to inform and enhance our corporate pastoral care, empower our women to serve the Church in their God-given gifting and augment our engagement and influence in the wider society.

Each lecturer speaks from their experience, their theological proficiency, their commitment to Christian discipleship, and their hope for a better future.

To book a place at the annual lecture for a cost of £25.00 including previous transcripts in the series and delegate gift bag, please go to www.ntcg-oliver-lyseight-lecture-2019-ticket.eventbrite.co.uk

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COURSES AND ELIGIBILITY

Are your courses only for NTCG ministers and leaders?

If I have already completed a course similar to CAMS, can I be exempt?

Yes, if the training you have completed is comparable to CAMS, this may be possible. A request for exemption with details of the course should be sent to your local pastor.

Categorically No. Unless specifically stated, all courses are open to any Christian from any denomination. NTCG Ministers and Key leaders will enrol in the courses to support specific denominational leadership processes. If in doubt or need of further clarity, please contact the Leadership Training Centre email: [email protected] or tel: 01604 824 233/8.

I was ordained before MIP was required. Do I have to do the MIP now?

No, but you are encouraged to do the CIMS course ‘Leading with integrity’ as part of your ministerial professional development.

Do I have to attend the CIMS taught sessions at the Leadership Training Centre in Northampton?

Yes, presently taught sessions are delivered at the Leadership Training Centre, however, we are actively developing blended learning styles to enhance our whole learning programme and will utilise the latest platforms and potential Learning Centres to deliver quality learning for all.

Do I need permission from my Pastor to attend a course at the Leadership Training Centre?

No. If your intentions are for personal enrichment in the first instance; however, we would encourage you to share your spiritual aspirations with your leadership so that they can affirm and support you as far as possible. If you intend to pursue studies for credentialing/licensure, the endorsement of your local and district Pastor is obligatory.

Do you offer advanced studies in biblical studies/theology at the Leadership Training Centre?

No. We do not offer advanced studies, but we encourage those with the requisite entry qualifications to consider programmes of study with one of our academic partners. For further information, contact us.

46

No! You would pick up from where you left off.

FEES & FINANCE

I would like to enrol in a course but not sure which one to choose. What is the difference between Ministerial Licensing and the Certified Ministerial Training (CMT) designation?

Ministerial licensing differs from Certified Ministerial Training. Ministerial Licensure is mandatory for Church of God ministers, but CMT is optional and voluntary.

Are CIMS curriculum and resources available to anyone?

Yes. The CIMS curriculum and related materials are available to all ministers and all churches regardless of denominational affiliation. They can be used for personal enrichment and non-accredited training in local churches as required. CIMS was developed for ministers including pastors, evangelists, music ministers, youth pastors, directors of Christian education, church planters and ministerial applicants it is also open to emerging and lay leaders. All who are interested in participating in the CIMS curriculum are welcome to register in the programme offered at The Leadership Training Centre.

What if I chose to study theology at a university or college not listed in the 5 with whom we have established links?

Our links with the five institutions of higher education do not in any way monopolise your freedom to enrol at the university/college of your choice.

If I start a course but had to stop for health reason, for example, and wished to resume my studies some months or a year later, would I have to start all over again?
