March 27, 2020 Vol. 2, Issue 6 I hope that this newsletter finds your family safe and healthy. Hopefully the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” mandate has allowed your family time to slow down and focus on yourselves. This will be a memorable time in all of our lives and we want to build memories that strengthen our relationships and our care for each other. This is what a Sunnycrest Team meeting looks like these days! As you can imagine it makes it slightly challenging for our staff to continue to work together from over sixty households. Most of the time we meet in small groups like the one above. Thank goodness for the technology that exists that allows us to keep good communication in a variety of ways. Still, it is definitely more difficult than when we are all in the same building. We appreciate your patience as we all get this figured out. This past week has been a week of reconnection. Our number one goal was to be able to check in with every family. We wanted to make sure that all of our students knew about the free lunch program and how to get technology to connect with us if needed. Even though we have been at it a week we still haven’t heard from everyone. If you are receiving emails or messages from your child’s teacher please make sure you respond so we know everything is okay. I hope that this newsletter finds your

family safe and healthy. Hopefully the “Stay Home,

Stay Healthy” mandate has allowed your family time to slow

down and focus on yourselves. This will be a memorable time

in all of our lives and we want to build memories that

strengthen our relationships and our care for each other.

This is what a Sunnycrest Team meeting looks like these

days! As you can imagine it makes it slightly challenging for

our staff to continue to work together from over sixty

households. Most of the time we meet in small groups like the

one above. Thank goodness for the technology that exists that

allows us to keep good communication in a variety of ways.

Still, it is definitely more difficult than when we are all in the

same building. We appreciate your patience as we all get this

figured out.

This past week has been a week of reconnection. Our

number one goal was to be able to check in with every family.

We wanted to make sure that all of our students knew about

the free lunch program and how to get technology to connect

with us if needed. Even though we have been at it a week we

still haven’t heard from everyone. If you are receiving emails

or messages from your child’s teacher please make sure you

respond so we know everything is okay. After spring break we

will be finding other ways to contact families because we want

to make sure everyone is okay. Again, if we can help in any

way please contact us:

Dear Parents:

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we get

student learning rolled out. We are aware that people are in

a variety of situations and we don’t want to add stress to

anyone lives but at the same time others are seeking resources.

Everyone should know about the Learning Resource site that is

on the site but you are also welcome to explore on your own.

Another resource you will want to explore is the Virtual

Library. There you will be able to find ebooks, audio books,

podcasts, you name it. Also you may want to check out

LAMPS. LAMPS has activities from the Library, Art, Music,

Pe, and for Social and emotional learning.

I know that the timing of the closing of schools has been

awkward at best but unavoidable. After March 13th school

was closed. The Governor stated that everyone needed to take

a week to regroup. Then we only had one week of

reconnecting with our students and now we are at spring break.

During the planned spring break, running from Saturday,

March 28th through Sunday, April 5th, we invite you to press

pause on providing educational support to your children and let

this spring break be like any other spring break as much as

possible during this hard time. During this period of days,

you have an emergency during this time, please do contact Mr.

I wish you the best during break and anticipate that we will

all come back with a sense of peacefulness and renewed

energy.
