Nu Flow Espaa was selected during the restoration of a World Heritage Site to rehabilitate ve rainwaterdrain pipes of a hospital built in 1930. This is another example of how Nu Flows long-term, in-place pipelining technology is able to preserve historical structures, where traditional repipes would have causeddamage and reconstruction.
Project: Rehabilitate 5 rainwater drain pipes in the main building of a hospital in Barcelona.
Customer: SAPIC located inBarcelona, Spain, a restoration,renovation and consolidation companyof older buildings. They also build newconstruction including residential,industrial, sports centers, public
works, bridges and other structures.
Site:Hospital de la Santa Creu in SantPau, an unmistakable landmark in theculture and heritage of Barcelona.Together with Palau de la MsicaCatalana, it is a UNESCO WorldHeritage Site.
System: The system consists of 5 ceramic rainwater drain pipes ranging from 98 mm to 150 mm and arelocated in the main building of Hospital de la Santa Creu.
Circumvention: The customer wanted
to prevent further damage to the agingbuilding and chose a solution that wouldnot destroy the frontage of the historicbuilding during the restoration process. Ifthe customer were to choose a traditionmethod, the frontage of this historicbuilding would have been destroyed.
Solution: Nu Flow Espaa was able to rehabilitate the rainwater drain pipes at the World Heritage Site withNu Flows Pull-in-Place liners in outside temperatures upwards of 97 degrees Fahrenheit. The liners werepulled through the pipes using the patented Nu Flow process, creating a seamless pipe within the originaldrain pipes. The pipes were rehabilitated from the inside, thus leaving the modernist architecture of the
building intact.
