    WelcomeCome to the Northwestern University Sailing Center and sail away this summer!Whether you are an experienced sailor looking to hone your skills or have neverset a foot on a boat, the Sailing Center has something to offer you. The entire

    Northwestern community and the general public may enjoy the Sailing Centerseasily accessible campus location, affordable memberships rates, high-qualityequipment, superb sailing location, spectacular views of Chicago, and a trained, helpfulstaff committed to providing an enjoyable and safe sailing experience for all guests.

    Prospective sailors and windsurfers will enjoy learning from our friendly, experiencedinstructors who make lessons fun as well as educational. Seasoned skippers willappreciate our high-performance sailboats and sailboards. Get set for a great summerby letting us show you the thrill, relaxation, and enjoyment of sailing and windsurfing!

    The Sailing CenterThe NUSC is Located at 1823 Campus Drive (two blocks east of Sheridan Road andChicago Avenue), next to the southeast corner of the double-deck parking structure.The Sailing Center is open every day from May 2 to October 11, weather permitting.Northwestern students, faculty, staff, alumni, other University affiliates, and thegeneral public may enjoy access to the Center. The Sailing Center maintains a fleetof the following watercrafts:

    The Sailing Center may close due to inclement weather, and not all watercraftsare available for general use during classes and regattas. Please call the SailingCenter at 847-491-4142 for information concerning weather related closures and

    daily boat availability.

    MembershipAll Sailing Center memberships (except private memberships) include use ofselect sailboats and sailboards at no extra cost. In the interest of safety, everyonewho purchases a membership is required to pass a proficiency test to earn a NUSkippers rating. Additional ratings and/or fees are required for use of Club 420s,Hobie Cats, and high-end Windsurfing boards and sails.

    If you earned a NU Skippers rating in a previous year, you may be exempt fromtaking the proficiency exam. Weather conditions dictate which NU Skippers rating

    is required to take out boats or windsurfing boards.

    For your safety, the Sailing Center reserves the right to close or limit access due toinclement weather. Personal floatation devices are included and are required on allwatercrafts launched from our facility. Members are required to follow Sailing Centerpolicies and procedures at all times or risk forfeiture of membership privileges.

    A private seasonal membership entitles members to launch personal sailboatsor windsurfing boards from the Sailing Center. A private membership does notinclude the use of Sailing Center equipment. An additional fee will be chargedfor the use of Sailing Center equipment. Personal sailboats can be stored at the

    Sailing Center for an additional fee. Windsurfing boards must be carried fromadjacent parking lot. All Sailing Center policies apply.

    Private Sailboat Storage

    Outdoor storage racks are available to Sailing Center members on a limited,first-come, first serve basis for a fee. The racks hold Lasers and Sunfish, beachspace is available for Hobie Cats. Please call for other boat types. Sails, booms,and spars can be stored in lockers indoors when outdoor space is purchased.Spaces are limited. Reservations will be accepted beginning April 1, 2010.Please call 847-491-4142 or 847-491-3999 for more information.

    Easy Parking

    Free parking is available in the double-deck parking lot adjacent to the SailingCenter on weekends and after 4:00pm on weekdays. At all other times, thedisplay of a parking permit is required. Daily permits may be purchased at theSailing Center. For more information on parking, call the Parking Office at847-491-3319.

    Sail with a Friend

    Members are invited to introduce others to the Sailing Center by bringing themas guests. All guests must sign a release form at the registration desk beforegoing out on the water. Guests are not allowed to single-hand or skipper anywatercrafts.

    Learn to Sail or Windsurf andReceive a FREE Months MembershipTake advantage of the top-quality instructional classes offered by our well-trained

    staff. Our friendly, knowledgeable instructors will help make your sailing andwindsurfing experiences enjoyable. Participants who register for adultinstructional programs receive a one-month Sailing Membership (limited foruse in the registered sport) at no extra charge.     Wildcat Youth Sailing Camp

    Wildcat Youth Sailing Camp offers children age 915 a well-rounded experience

    that emphasizes safety, fun, and a love of sailing. Campers are taught by

    professional instructors and longtime sailing enthusiasts. To enhance your

    childs learning and development, the camp limits class size to 30 campers per

    EW! Wildcat Windsurfing Camp

    Wildcat Youth Windsurfing Camp offers children ages 915 a well-rounded experience that

    emphasizes safety, fun, and a love of windsurfing. The windsurfing Camp uses our brand

    new Bic Techno 293OD boards and sails. Professional instructors and longtime windsurfing

    enthusiasts teach campers. To enhance your childs learning and development, the camp

    Private Sailing/Windsurfing LessonsPrivate lessons offer one-on-one instruction for sailors and windsurfers of alllevels who would like to improve sailing skills or windsurfing techniques. Privatesailing lessons can be taught on 420s, Lasers, and Hobie Cats. Privatewindsurfing lessons will be taught on skill appropriate boards and sails.

    Student: $60/hr Affiliate: $65/hr Public: $70/hour

    Special Partner Private rate of $100/hour. (Two students, one Instructor,same boat.) Partner rate not available for windsurfing private lessons.

    Cost $300 per session*Sack lunch required for campers enrolled in all day camp.

    Catamaran Rentals

    Challenge your skills and feel your adrenaline flow as you skim the surface in ourclubs catamarans. Choose between the Sailing Centers Hobie wave and three16 Hobie cats for your multi-hull adventure. Rentals can be reserved in advance

    and walk-ups are always welcome. Payment is on an hourly basis, cash or creditcard only. Call 847-491-4142 for reservations.

    Kayak Storage and Launch

    The Sailing Center is a convenient location to easily launch ones kayak and enjoyChicagos Northshore from vanstons gorgeous perspective. NUSC providesstorage space for kayakers on a first come, first serve basis. A seasonal launchpass must be purchased with storage space rental. In addition, patrons maypurchase seasonal or daily launch passes.

    Refund Policy

    You will receive a full refund, less a $20.00 processing fee, if you cancel yourenrollment at least 2 business days prior to the first class. You will receive a 50percent refund, less a $20.00 processing fee if you cancel less than 2 business daysprior to the first class. No refunds are given after the first day of class.A receipt is required to process all refunds. A Sailing Center credit may be givenin lieu of a refund.
