Organizational Culture Alignment Physical Plant & Design Basis Key talking points: Nuclear organizations, including R&D orgs, regulator, TSOs, and utilities need to recognize their knowledge requirements are based or focused in 3 key areas: people, processes, and nuclear technology.All three must be aligned to meet the business goals of the organization. People:(tacit and implicit knowledge), i.e. the needed human competencies (specialized knowledge, experience, skills, know-how, relationships) Processes: (explicit) i.e. needed business and work processes, practices, procedures, and methods for people to manage effectively the operation and maintenance of the nuclear plant technology safely Nuclear technology:(explicit) the underlying engineering and science principles and their application in the realized plant design (i.e. the actual and/or documented design basis of the plant) Information Technology: tools and systems that support knowledge processes in any of the three areas KM focuses on the strategic, integrated, and systematic approach to ensuring effective knowledge processes to support the organizations business/work processes (which should be aligned with organizational goals) It is important to recognize that business processes are not the same thing as knowledge processes.Although knowledge processes are embedded in business processes, it is often not recognized they may also need to cut across business processes or life-cycle phases. &
