Our Morning Worship Service *Please stand if you are able.

God Gathers and Greets Us

Prelude Welcome & Announcements *Call to Worship & Lighting of the Advent Candle:

Pastor: When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. All: Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Pastor: Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

All: The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Pastor: Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. All: Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.

(Psalm 126 NIV)

*Advent Hymn: “Rejoice, Rejoice, Believers” PH 333: All *God’s Greeting & Mutual Greeting

We Confess and God Forgives

Call to Confession: Pastor: What is involved in genuine repentance or conversion?

All: Two things: the dying-away of the old self and the coming-to-life of the new. Pastor: What is the dying-away of the old self?

All: It is to be genuinely sorry for sin, to hate it more and more, and to run away from it.

Hymn of Confession: “Blessed Assurance” PH 490:1,2 Words of Assurance:

Pastor: What is the coming-to-life of the new self? All: It is wholehearted joy in God through Christ and a delight to do every kind of good as God wants us to.
