A Comment… • The Nursing Editor’s History Project is

vitally important. • Every day, we lose a little bit more of

our editorial history. • HOF Journals last year:

• Three required hand searches • One hasn’t been started! • Duke University Library Service

Center (off site storage) • Thank you to Marilyn Oermann!

This Year’s Journals…

• The archive of the CJNR was a treasure trove of information! • Had archives of front matter and a

“summarizing” editorial! • JNN – DaiWai’s “Welcome” Editorial

gave the editor history • Still missing pictures of covers from

the past and pictures of some editors

This Year’s Journals…

• IJNS had full archives online that I could access through Duke University • Still need pictures of past editors

• Nursing Forum and Perspectives on Psychiatric Nursing – archives online, but behind a paywall. • Thank you to Evelyn who compiled information for PPC! • Thank you to Allie and staff at Wiley who gave me access to the

archives!

What Can Editors Do?

• Complete a NEHP data form for your journal to have it included in the NEHP. • Updates will only need to be made

going forward (ie, when the editor changes).

• Consider listing past editors on the masthead, with dates. • Example at right is from the AJN.

What Can Editors Do?

• Include the Editor-in-Chief and other Editors on the masthead!

• If the masthead is only included on the website (not printed in the journal), work with your publisher to make sure this information is archived and available for future access.

• Give editorials descriptive titles that provide information about content—not just “Editorial.” Same with announcements, prologues, etc.

• Include your name as the author of the editorial!
