• It involves the collection of all diseases related to the heart that are as follows
• Hypertension• Heart attacks• Valve replacements• Blockages in heart• Pacemaker implantations
Nutritional intervention
• Hypertension
• As per current guidelines of WHO, if BP rises above 130/85 mm Hg then it is said to be high B.P.
• To maintain a normal B.P. one should have 1 tsp of common salt daily
• Avoid highly salted item and preservatives
• Pacemaker implantations
• As such there are no dietary restrictions for this kind of procedures
• Patients have to be careful with gadgets having electromagnetic waves e.g. mobiles, electric switches, electronic doors.
• This is due to blockage in heart vessels.• Dietary intervention plays a vital role in this • Patient should take diet as follows:
• Low salt• Low fat• High fiber• Low carbohydrate• Normal protein• Normal mineral and vitamins
• Mostly patients are put on blood thinner named Acitrom or Warfarin
• This requires dietary restrictions of Vitamin K sources as it is a good blood coagulator
Sources of Vit-K
• Green leafy vegetables
• Peas
• Tomatoes ,spring onion: smaller quantity is allowed
• Cabbage and cauliflower
• Beans
• Red meats
• Soyabean and its products and its oil
