Youth Civic Leaders Summit (YCLS) - Livingston County will be taking a team...sign up today!

Ready to grow your leadership, strengthen your team, and re-energize with friends from across Missouri and beyond? Find “The Courage To Lead” at the Missouri Youth Civic Leaders Sum-mit, March 2-4, 2018, at Windermere Conference Center.

You are invited to join 150-200 teens and adult leaders for YCLS 2018, a leadership conference by/for teens and adults who are active in leader-ship and service! Highlights include youth and adult keynote speakers, workshop sessions, EDGE challenge course, line dance/open gym, service projects, and team talent showcase! Meet new friends from Missouri, and special guests from Wisconsin 4-H and Mizzou Alternative Breaks!

Registration for teens ages 14-18 is open in 4-HOnline. Cost is $160/person, including 2-nights lodging, meals, activities, and most recreation.

2018 Missouri 4-H Equine Tour

Join up! The 2018 Equine 4-H tour, May 21-28, will be headed

west to Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado exploring the equine

world for teens, ages 14-18, dreaming of an equine related ca-

reer or aspiring to learn more about the horse world. Each

year’s tour has a unique itinerary to help youth explore the di-

verse equine industry indigenous to the destinations. The 2018

will have a focus on the both English and Western performance,

the rodeo and entertainment industry and visits to leading medi-

cal facilities. The itinerary will include visits to top horse

ranches, dude ranches and a Colorado mountain trail ride. One

of the higher education visits will be at Colorado State Universi-

ty in addition to meeting nationally recognized leaders and

trainers in the equine industry.

The $650 tour fee includes charter bus transportation, tours, trail ride, hotels, meals, tour t-shirt, travel bag and other associated costs. Key Award—Award for members 14-18 The Key Award, the highest award a 4-H member can receive, recognizes 4-H members who have achieved significant leadership at the club or group, community and state levels. The Key Award is a prestigious award rewarding 4-H members for their hard work and ac-complishments as well as the contribution they have made to the overall 4-H program.

The objective of the Key Award is to encourage the growth of Missouri young people in the areas of leadership, community service and project excellence.

Eligibility

Ages 14-18 years old on Dec. 31 of the program year

4-H member for at least one year

Worked with an adult mentor (preferably an adult that is not the member's parent or guardian)

Application process

Visit with your 4-H Youth Development Specialist or Youth Education Assistant.

Select an adult mentor who will support your work and help document your efforts for your Capstone Effort.

Members who reach the minimum points required will receive the Missouri 4-H Key Award and certificate at the local level; they will also be recognized at the state level. The mentor will receive a 4-H Key Award mentor pin.

State 4-H Teen Conference Overview

March 24-25, 2018 (Columbia, Missouri) Description

Teen Conference is a fun-filled, two-day event for ages 11-13, planned by your State 4-H Council to promote belonging, independence, generosity and mastery by

creating opportunities to make many new friends from across Missouri,

building leadership skills through quality learning experiences,

connecting youth with our best teen role models, the State 4-H Council, and

finding out about the exciting opportunities that await as a 4-H teenager.

ALL YOUTH MUST BE PREREGISTERED. December 1, 2017 through February 15, 2018: Registration is available through 4HOnline. February 16-28, 2018: Late registration period (additional $20) March 1, 2018: Registration closed.

4-H Move Across Missouri is back for 2018!

And, youth and adults can register for it on 4HOnline!! Enrollment for new and re-

enrollment for current MOVErs begins now and continues until May 1. MOVE promotes

physical activity and encourages youths to engage in a broad range of activities such as

walking, biking, running, swimming, dance, taekwondo, gardening and more.

Here’s what youth and adults need to do to participate:

· Enroll in the Move Across Missouri (MOVE) project (HF775) in 4HOnline in

their profile. Enrollment in 4-H MOVE does not count as a part of county

limits on projects.

Using a paper tracking system found on the 4-H website at: http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/

moveinfo, youth and their families can “log” the number of minutes throughout the year

(scroll to the bottom of the website page and click “My Move Activity Log”). The competi-

tion period will be from February 1 to April 30. Youth and families will submit their log

between May 1 - 15 in 4HOnline.

4-Hers and adults can register for the competitive event as individuals or as part of a

team. An individual MOVEr may also be a part of a team. A team can consist of a family

or members of a 4-H club or group. MOVE awards will be provided.
