    This project proposes to repair bridges that carry: Half

    Hollow Rd over the LIE (I495), Washington Ave over

    the LIE (I495), Ronkonkoma Ave over the LIE (I495),

    Hawkins Ave over the LIE (I495), the LIE (I495) over

    Edwards Ave, the LIE (I495) over NY112 (Medford

    Ave), the LIE (I495) over Sills Rd and Yaphank Ave

    over the LIE (I495). Bridges are in the Towns of

    Brookhaven, Huntington & Islip in Suffolk County.

    Project will help maintain bridge reliability and integrity

    to assure the continued safety of the traveling public. The

    work may include all or some of the following: the

    removal and replacement of existing steel bearings with

    elastomeric bridge bearings, the reconstruction of bridge

    bearing pedestals and anchor bolts, repairs to concrete

    pier cap beams, removal and replacment of deck joint

    systems, and reconstruction of deck slabs at deck joint

    regions, and miscellaneous concrete substructure patch

    repairs. Some bridges will have replacement of their

    asphalt wearing surface overlay, after milling to remove

    the existing, installation of a waterproof membrane, and

    paving of the new asphalt wearing course overlay. This

    type of corrective maintenance helps extend the life of the

    bridges.

    County and Town of Huntington, Suffolk County.

    contracts but beyond their scope may be included in this

    project. Sidewalk may be installed to fill gaps less than a

    half mile between segments of existing sidewalks where

    extensive drainage improvements are not required. Curbs,

    signs and paving within the area of work may be replaced

    and other site improvements may be provided.

    Crosswalks may also be re-striped to link curb ramps

    where required.

    Northern State Parkway, in the Towns of North

    Existing guiderails will be replaced with guiderails that

    meet current engineering standards. In addition, new

    sections of guiderail will be added, if warranted, to

    ensure the safety of the traveling public.
