IT’S TESTING TIME AT OAKDALE!

Testing here at Oakdale has begun and will be ongoing in to May.

Here are some pre-testing tips to help you do your very best:

• Get a good night’s sleep! Remember, your brain and body need sleep to function well, so don’t stay

up late.

• Have a nutritious breakfast! You will think much better when you have something in your stomach.

• Dress in layers! This way you can adjust to the different temperatures of the rooms.

• Relax! Take a deep breath and listen closely to instructions.

• Read each question carefully! Review to make sure you’ve answered every question.

Stuffed Toy SLEEPOVER

On Tuesday, April 2nd Oakdale PTO will sponsor a Pajama Day and a Stuffed Toy

Sleepover in the school. Children may pay $1.00 to wear pajamas to school that day. They

may pay another $1.00 for their favorite teddy or stuffed animal to stay the night at the

school. (STUDENTS WILL NOT SPEND THE NIGHT, only the stuffed animals!) Proceeds will

go to the Oakdale PTO.

The bear/stuffed animal must be small enough to easily fit into a backpack. It should be a

furry friend that will not be missed at home that evening.

The stuffed animals will spend Tuesday night at our school. It will be great fun for the

children to see if the toys slept through the night or if they got into any mischief. Follow

Oakdale PTO on Facebook for updates throughout the adventure. We may also go “live” a bit

that evening! Animals can be picked up on Wednesday or any time that week.

Tornado Warnings during the School Day

If a tornado warning begins during the school day, students and staff will

take refuge in the storm shelters. It is important to note that once students

and staff relocate to the storm shelters, exterior doors of the school build-

ing may be locked and entry into the building is not guaranteed. Parents are

strongly encouraged to seek shelter and wait until after the warning has been

lifted before coming to the school.

Tornado Warnings and Bus Transportation

If a tornado warning occurs when buses are transporting students, the buses will

immediately go to the nearest school building. Students will stay in the shelter until

the warning stops. At that time the buses will complete transporting students home.

Student of the Month

Each month, here at Oakdale, students from all grade levels are chosen as a Student of the

Month. Classroom and “specials” teachers pick a student who has shown a good example of

the character trait that has been selected for that month. Some of the examples of

character traits are: caring, pride, cooperation, responsibility, problem solving, effort,

patience, and initiative. We will have an assembly every month announcing the students that

were chosen. Those selected will be presented with a certificate and T-shirt at the assem-

bly!

KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP

Kindergarten Round-up is April 11, and we are compiling a list of children that will be attending

Kindergarten at Oakdale Elementary next year. Please fill out the attached form if you have a

child that will be enrolling or know of someone in the neighborhood that will be enrolling.

Enrolling children must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2019 to be eligible to

ES TIEMPO DE EXÁMENES!

Los exámenes han empezado en Oakdale y continuaran hasta Mayo.

A continuación te damos algunos consejos para prepárate para los exámenes:

• Duerme bien! Recuerda tu cuerpo y mente necesitan descansar para funcionar mejor.

• Desayuna bien! Porque uno piensa mejor con el estomago lleno.

• Viste con varias capas! De esta manera te puedes ajustar a las diferentes temperaturas del salón.

• Relájate! Respira y escucha con atención las instrucciones.

• Lee cada pregunta cuidadosamente! Revisa que hayas contestado todas las preguntas.

Pijamada Para Peluches

El Martes, 2 de Abril Oakdale PTO va tener día de Pijamas en la escuela. Los niños pagaran

$1.00 para traer sus pijamas todo el día. Y pagarían otro $ 1.00 si quiere que su peluche fa-

vorita pase toda la noche en la escuela. (Los estudiantes NO PASARAN LO NOCHE EN LA

ESCUELA, nada mas el mono de peluche)

El peluche tiene que ser lo suficientemente pequeño para caber en la mochila. Tiene que ser el

peluche que no use para dormir todas las noches.

El peluche pasara la noche del martes en la escuela. Sera muy divertido para los niños

ver si el peluche hace travesuras durante la noche. Síguenos en facebook Oakdale PTO para

ponerte al día sobre nuestras aventuras. A lo mejor estaremos en “vivo” un poco durante la no-

che! Los peluches los pueden recoger el miércoles o cualquier otro día de la semana.

Advertencia de Tornado durante el Día Escolar: Si una advertencia de tor-

nado comienza durante el día escolar, los estudiantes y el personal se refu-

giarán en el refugio contra tormentas ubicado en la escuela. Es importante

tener en cuenta que una vez que los estudiantes y el personal se reubiquen en

el refugio contra tormentas, las puertas exteriores del edificio de la escuela

pueden estar cerradas bajo llave y no se garantiza la entrada al edificio. Se

recomienda encarecidamente a los padres que busquen refugio y esperen hasta que se

haya levantado la advertencia antes de venir a la escuela

Transporte escolar y Advertencia de Tornado (Tornado Warning). Si hubiera una

Advertencia de Tornado (Tornado Warning) cuando los estudiantes estén siendo tras

portados en los camiones escolares, inmediatamente serán llevados al edificio escolar

más cercano. Los estudiantes permanecerán en ese refugio hasta que la advertencia sea

quitada. Cuando sea seguro, los camiones continuarán con el transporte de los

estudiante

Student of the Month

Cada mes, aquí en Oakdale, los estudiantes de cada grado son elegidos como Estudiantes del Mes. Los

maestros son los encargados de nominar a los estudiantes, que han demostrado el rasgo del mes. Tene-

mos una asamblea todos los meses para anunciar los estudiantes elegidos donde se les entrega un certifi-

cado y una camiseta en forma de reconocimiento. El rasgo de carácter para Febrero fue "Paciencia". ¡Aquí

están los estudiantes que mostraron ese rasgo!
