Introduction
Locke defined job satisfaction as a “pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the
appraisal of one’s job or job experiences”. This definition presumes that the person will be satisfied
with his job till his dominant needs are satisfied with this job and is consistent with his expectations
and values.
Employee satisfaction is a measure of how happy employees are with their job and working
environment. Keeping morale high among employees can be of tremendous benefit to any
company, as happy employees will be more likely to produce more, take fewer days off, and stay
loyal to the company. There are many factors in improving or maintaining high employee
satisfaction, which wise employers would do well to implement.
Job satisfaction is not the same as motivation, although it is clearly linked. Job design aims to
enhance job satisfaction and performance; methods include job rotation, job enlargement and job
enrichment. Other influences on satisfaction include the management style and culture, employee
involvement, empowerment and autonomous work groups, pay, work responsibilities, variety of
tasks, promotional opportunities the work itself and co-employees. Job satisfaction has been
defined as a pleasurable emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job; an affective
reaction to one’s job; and an attitude towards one’s job.
Weiss (2002) has argued that job satisfaction is an attitude but points out that researchers should
clearly distinguish the objects of cognitive evaluation which are affect (emotion), beliefs and
behaviors. This definition suggests that we form attitudes towards our jobs by taking into account
our feelings, our beliefs, and our behaviors.
Research Objectives The objective of the Research is to Study various factors effecting job satisfaction of employee.
To determine the relationship between factors of job satisfaction by completing a factor analysis of the constructs in relation to overall satisfaction ratings.
Demographics will be identified such as age, gender, and marital status, number of
children, department and tenure to verify if they relate to job satisfaction.

Need for Job Satisfaction
Studying job satisfaction with a focus on facets provides insight into the attitudes, needs, and
motives of workers. Members of the clergy, teachers, and social workers most likely receive high
levels of satisfaction in their jobs from the work itself. Other people might receive the greatest
levels of satisfaction from their jobs from being around and interacting with coworkers and
supervisors. High pay might keep some people in their jobs even when they regard their work as
less meaningful and when they receive little satisfaction from other facets of their jobs

Research Methodology
Research Design
The process used to collect information and data for the purpose of making business decisions. A cross-sectional survey design utilizing questionnaires was selected to fulfill the research objectives. The methodology may include publication research, interviews, survey and other research techniques, and could include both present and historical information.
Sampling Method Under the probabilistic sampling techniques, simple random sampling will be used.
Sample Size Sample sizes of 120 employees from various sectors in industries will be taken for the research
purpose.
Statistical Tools We have used IBM SPSS 20 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), for data analysis
Data Collection
For any study there must be data for analysis purpose. Without data there is no means of study.
