BACKGROUND
Obesity is a condition where subcutaneous fat
exceeds in the amount of lean body mass.
BMI of 18.5-24.9 is normal,25 to 29.9 is
overweight, and BMI of 30 or above is obese.
Male of 25% or greater of body fat is obese
Female of 33% or greater of body fat is obese
SYMPTOMS
Other comorbidities such as hypertension,
cardiovascular disease, or diabetes.
High reduction in maximal oxygen uptake and
Ventilatory threshold
Can lead to psychological issues such as
depression.
Can cause orthopedic stress duet o all the
excessive weight on the bodies joints.
FITT
Frequency- a minimal of 5 days a week
Intensity60-80% of max heart rate. Use the “talk-test” to
determine exertion.
Time-40-60 minutes per day, or 20-30 minute session
twice a day
Type-low impact aerobic type exercises such as treadmill
walking, rowing, stationary cycling, and water activity.
BENEFICIAL EXERCISES
Exercise that does not put to much stress on the
bodies stress. Also it should be low intensity aerobic
type exercise.
In other words weight supported exercises
Which include cycling or swimming.
Walking is widely preferred to obese clients and
highly recommended
