Vigil service and recitation of the rosary evening service were held on Tues., April 12, 2016 at Tennant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wed., April 13, 2016 (today) at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Bodzioch celebrating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mr. Williams’ honor may be made to the Walt Williams Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751. Walt “Mac” was born in Huntsville, Ala. to Eugene and Annie (McGee) Williams. He lived his youth all over the world as an “Army Brat.” It was a life he loved and one that led him to join the United States Air Force on his 17 th birthday. Walt served eight years, being stationed in the U.S. and Korea. He was a part of the effort in shipping of all ammunition at Kunsan Air Base to the Vietnam War. While a member of the Air Force, he also received numerous citations for various services. He was honorably discharged in December of 1967. Mr. Williams was then employed at Coors Brewery in Golden until he was forced to resign after developing asthma, which rendered him allergic to the hops. He and his family then moved to Sterling, where he worked for Evans Railcar until its plant closed. In December of 1987, Mr. Williams went to work at Wisdom Manufacturing where he worked in purchasing and selling until his death. He loved his work. He also loved spending time with his family. Especially during the summer, spending hours playing croquet and in the winter, playing pool or cards. In July of 1999, Mary and Mac were successful in adopting their grandson, Christopher, whom they had custody of since his birth. It was one of the great highlights of their lives. Mac is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Mary Williams of Sterling; son Sean Williams of Sterling; daughter Lisa Bellendir (Chris) of Sterling; son Douglas Williams of Henderson; son Craig Williams (Cheri) of Sterling; grandchildren Chris Williams (Michelle), Joey Bellendir (Stacey), Chase Williams, Kellie Williams and Tyler DeHerrera, Mallory Williams and Travis Richardson, Chrissa Bellendir and Sami Bellendir; brother James Barnes II; sisters Sibyl Farris and Grace Ann Sauls; seven great-grandchildren Kirsten, Cole, and Maddie Williams; Taelinn Williams, Jaxen Richardson, Tayson DeHerrera, and Delaney Richardson. Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joseph J. Haberkorn, 89 of Sterling, was born Dec. 17, 1926 and passed away Tues., April 5, 2016 in Fort Morgan. Vigil service and recitation of the rosary were held on Thurs., April 7, 2016 at Tennant Funeral Home. Joe was born in Sterling to Phillip Peter and Magdelena (Hassener) Haberkorn. He graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. Joseph was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in Okinawa. He was a meter man for Iowa Gas and Electric for over 25 years. He was never married. Mr. Haberkorn was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and enjoyed carpentry and upholstery. He was a very independent person with a great sense of humor. Joseph enjoyed spending time with family and having coffee at Sandra K. Pedersen, 64 of Sterling, was born June 7, 1951 and passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with diabetes on Wed., April 6, 2016 in Sterling. Memorial services were on Sat., April 9, 2016 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Bigler III officiating. Services concluded at the funeral home. Sandra was born in Jasper, Minn. to Stanley and Delores Emery DeSchepper. She participated in several pool leagues and 4-H Club and enjoyed spending time with her Gloria Sonnenberg, 56 of Sterling, was born March 8, 1960 and passed away Wed., April 6, 2016 in Aurora after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Tues., April 12, 2016 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jared Sonnenberg officiating. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Sonnenberg’s honor may be made to the Gloria Sonnenberg Memorial. Gloria was born in Sterling to Monserrato and Mary Gonzales Conde. She attended Iliff schools and graduated from Caliche High School in 1978. She continued her education at Northeastern Junior College (NJC) for another year. Mrs. Sonnenberg is survived by her husband Rod Sonnenberg of Sterling; mother-in-law Jewel Sonnenberg of Sterling; daughter Kasha Sheets and husband Matt and their children Kaeden and Kashley; son Kylan Sonnenberg and wife Jami and their children Elijah and Ella; daughter Kaeoni Sonnenberg and Brandon Walser; sisters Stella Ursich and husband Mike of Iliff and Rebecca Conde of Sterling; brothers Bob Conde and wife Angie of Greeley, Monse Conde and wife Olga of Holyoke and Mario Conde of Iliff; brother- in-law Don Sonnenberg; sisters- in-law Nancy Sonnenberg, Cheryl Miller and husband Jim; numerous nieces, nephews and friends and special nephew Ryan Valdez. Chaney-Reager Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. When in high school, Gloria met Rod Sonnenberg and asked him to prom in 1977. They dated until they were married on Feb. 14, 1981 in Sterling. Her first role was wife, but her dream was to be a mother. On Nov. 14, 1982 they welcomed their first child, Kasha. A short time later the Sonnenbergs welcomed a baby boy, Kylan on July 5, 1984. After a few years they welcomed their second daughter, Kaeoni on Jan. 21, 1989. Being a mother was the joy in her life. Gloria saw her kids and nephew Ryan through school and worked at different jobs, Ayres Elementary School, Northeastern Junior College, Wal-Mart and Salud, up until her diagnosis. Her second important role in life was being a grandmother. Kaeden, her first grandchild, was born to Kasha and Matt on March 17, 2003. Kashley, her granddaughter, was born Sept. 13, 2006. Ella was born to Kylan and Jami on June 26, 2010 and was joined by brother Elijah Geren. Gloria cherished her role as grandma and was at every school play, sporting event and milestone in their lives. She and Rod were together for over 38 years. They honored their vows, in sickness and in health, as Rod remained by her side throughout her sickness. Gloria was always lending a helping hand and always put others before herself. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, brother Claude Conde, sister Mary Valdez and father-in-law Wendell Sonnenberg. Gloria Sonnenberg Sandra K. Gwendolyn M. Otzenberger, 90 of Sterling, was born Nov. 15, 1925 and passed away Mon., March 28, 2016 in Sterling. A family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Gwendolyn grew up in Atwood and married Otis Otzenberger on Oct. 26, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents Cleo and Myriam Lee, sister Leona Cochran and husband Cecil Cochran. Mrs. Otzenberger is survived by her husband Otis, son Grant and wife Pam and daughter Nolene Moreno and husband Dan, all of Sterling; grandchildren Sarah Elliott, Matthew Moreno, Marty Otzenberger and Megan Eurich; one great grandchild. Gwendolyn M. Otzenberger, 90 of Sterling, was born Nov. 15, 1925 and passed away Mon., March 28, 2016 in Sterling. A family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
