Agenda: -PoD-PSA introduction-Safety Contract Review
1. Choose two of the lab safety practices below.– Do not remove any equipment or chemicals from the lab.– Coats bags, and other personal items must be stored in designated areas.– Keep the floor clear of all objects.– Never block access to exits or emergency equipment.– Never pour chemical waste into the sink drains or trash cans.– Always wear appropriate eye protection in the lab.– Wear appropriate clothing in the lab.– Never have food or drinks in the lab.– Never use lab equipment for eating or drinking.– Do not directly touch any chemicals with your hands.– Never taste any lab materials.– Never place a substance under your nose and inhale the vapors of a substance.– Never point the open end of a test tube toward someone.– Never leave your experiment unattended.
2. Create a PSA (public service/safety announcement) showing the practices in some way using your phone, tablet, school laptop.
3. You can use the your phones, tablets or laptops to take a picture or video, you can make a meme, a brochure, a flyer, powerpoint, etc.
4. Include a passage about your safety practice and two MLA cited references as to why your safety practices must be followed. (four total)
Lab Safety PSA
• Two graphics (pic, vid(less than 10 secs), pic from web, hand drawn).
• Two or three sentence description about your graphic.
• Two MLA citations for articles/publications related to your graphic.– FOUR total
Do not eat food, drink beverages, or chew gum in the laboratory.
