The FICPA Educational Foundation hosts its 5th Annual Family Retreat at Ocean Reef from July 25-28, 2013. Our Ocean Reef Retreat is a casual (shorts and sundresses) event with a golf tournament, cocktail parties and a moonlight beach luau. It’s all designed to promote the CPA profession; increase awareness and support of the FICPA Educational Foundation; and encourage our attendees and families to get to know each other.

This festive gathering includes talks with our profession’s leaders and late-night storytelling for the kids. Held in one of the most natural and beautiful settings in the United States, this 2,500-acre private equity resort at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo (just 45 minutes from Miami) is home to 5-star hotel accommodations. Ocean Reef also boasts a spa and fitness center; three championship golf courses; a Har-Tru tennis facility; numerous restaurants and bars; a private airport; a world-class, 150-slip marina; and a watersports island haven that includes a saltwater lagoon, kiddies’ beach, children’s and adult pools, beach volleyball courts and sailing activities. If you’re looking for an offshore adventure, you can enjoy deep sea and flats fishing as well as diving and snorkeling.

The FICPA Educational Foundation is committed to making the Retreat affordable, and at $155 per night (and kids stay free in their parents’ room), we believe we’ve succeeded!

The first four events have attracted more than 350 CPAs and their families, raising more than $50,000 for the Foundation.

This year’s retreat includes a reception for incoming FICPA Chairman Ken Strauss and a moonlight beach luau dinner with George Gulisano, our 2013-2014 President of the FICPA Educational Foundation and one of our keynote speakers. Visit the event website at www.ficpa.org/oceanreef for more information about reservations. You also can see photos and sponsors of prior retreats. Ocean Reef Club is a private resort, located just 45 minutes south of Miami that is hosting our golf tournament and the FICPA Educational Foundation Retreat. Explore this natural paradise and stay a day or the entire weekend. With so many activities to choose from, don’t pass up a unique opportunity to visit this extraordinary resort.

The Dolphin CourseThe Dolphin Course features fairways winding past tamarind, coconut palms and mahogany trees, as well as other exotic landscaping. Glittering water hazards delight the eye and call for accuracy. The generous fairways of this course allow much more margin for error off the tee. The real test on this 6,500-yard, par-71 course arrives when you get to the greens.

The Hammock CourseThe Hammock Course is partially situated in a mangrove with tropical hardwood hammock and contains many rare and endangered species of plants for players to observe and enjoy. With fairways meandering through this natural hammock and water vistas on 14 of the 18 holes, concentration becomes key to a good round. This par-71 course is 6,200 yards and offers a magnificent collection of memorable holes.
