Model and TV personality MelindaMessenger, the new face & body of Ultimo D-G Cup available from Debenhams, unwraps her top tips for making Christmas as stress-free and as pleasurable as possible. Here’s how to do it….

1. Get in the festive spirit – I like to spend a full day in with the kids to decorate the house – it’s something we always do together, every year. We get the old Christmas tunes on and make hot chocolate while we put up the tree – there’s nothing better for getting into the festive swing of things!

2. Have a festive brainstorm – I always brainstorm all of my usual Christmas duties and put everything I need to do up on my notice board so I don’t forget – from family visits, to gift shopping and picking up a tree. With three young kids running about full of excitement at this time of year, it can be difficult to keep on track!

3. Make a shopping list – having quite a big family, I need to remember who I have to buy gifts for and what I think they’d like. It can all get quite confusing, so writing and re-writing lists is a must! There’s also all the Christmas essentials, like a Poinsietta plant for the house, fairy lights, wrapping paper, nibbles, mulled wine – all the things that make Christmas so special! Batteries are something I always stock up on at Christmas time, there is nothing worse than getting the kids a new toy and not being able to play with it because there are no batteries!

4. Pamper yourself – I like to treat myself to some spa treatments at my favourite beauty salon in the run up to Christmas. There’s no better way to prepare for the festive chaos than with some relaxing ‘me time’. I always prepare myself for parties by getting a leg wax, manicure and pedicure so I look and feel my best when going out with friends and family. Any excuse!

5. Splash out on a special outfit – I always hit the shops in the lead-up to Christmas to pick out my Christmas outfit. I make sure I’ve got the whole package, top to toe, from the gorgeous lingerie set, to the glamorous accessories andcomplementary make-up. I’ll always spend a little bit more too, as Christmas only comes once a year - and I know I’ll get plenty of wear out of everything thanks to all the season’s parties, Christmas and New Year.

Try creating one of Sky BarRestaurant’s Christmas dishesfor yourself. This one’s simpleto put together and a de�nitecrowd-pleaser...

RecipeIngredients 150g egg yolks125g castor sugar40ml water225g dark chocolate290ml single cream2½ stem ginger bal ls

Cook up a storm

1. Finely chop the ginger, then with the back of a knife, smooth to a paste.

2. Put ginger and egg yolks into a mixing bowl and whisk, with an electr ic whisk, on ful l power.

3. Melt the chocolate by placing it in a bowl and putt ing the bowl into boi l ing water. Keep st i rr ing unti l chocolate melts.

4. Boi l the water and sugar and pour into the egg yolk mix, keep st i rr ing unti l cold. Add the chocolate to the yolk mix.

5. Whisk the s ingle cream into smooth peaks. Add to the chocolate and yolks unti l the whole mixture is combined and of a smooth consistency.

6. Pour into serving glasses and cool off for two hours, then ready to serve.
