appropriate

30 – The shots used

are of a decent

standard, althoughthis person has

chosen to have the

artist covering the

masthead which

makes it hard for us

to see what the

magazine is actually

called. Also, the

person on the covers

arms look as though

they have een

photoshopped tolook skinnier which

makes her look really

out of proportion.

Also, the arcode

and pricing

elements!issue

numer is in a really

weird placement that

doesn"t make sense

and the graphics

look slightly odd in

general.

using a

appropriate

3# – The shot

distances used are of

a good standard

though they lack in

variation. $n the

contents page, the

shot distances don"t

look too ad and the

contrasting sizes in

the images used

make for an

interesting visual.

%owever, the doule

page spread lacks in

variation as there are

way too many

images which don"t

have a lot of

variation which

makes them not look

as interesting to andaudience.

to the task

set

30 – The images

used are of a good

uality throughout,

however they don"t

communicate thefact that it is a music

magazine as there is

no ovious reference

to music. Also, the

girl on the cover

doesn"t look like a

music artist in the

slightest.

#5 – The setting

and mise enscene doesn"t

communicate that

this is a music

magazine at all.

 There )s nothing

through use of

lighting, props,

makeup or

costume that

communicates

what genre this

magazine is let

alone whether it is

a music

magazine.

n, including

cropping

and resizing

30 – There is a clear

di6erence in size

which helps to create

variation and visual

appeal. %owever, the

sizing looks a little

odd in terms of

proportion and

alance given the

amount placed on

the cover and

contents page. The

way the image on

the left hand side of

the page has een

placed makes the

contents text look

weird as the waythey have tried to

make the numering

of the pages follow

her leg looks odd.

Also the use of the

second image on the

right hand side of the

contents page isn"t

necessary as it

doesn"t really match

the image on the left

and it seemingly has

no relevance. The

images used on the

doule page spread

are ok ut there are

way too many of

them and they don"t

really add to thearticle making them

irrelevant and

unnecessary.

accurately

using

language

and register

30 1 The text on the

doule page spread

isn"t too ad apart

from the fact that it

isn"t very well

written and doesn"t

contain a lot ofinformation that is

useful to the reader

as the reader would

want to know what

the artist had to say

and have een given

more images than

words that are very

samey and don"t

contriute much to

the article.

integrating

illustration

and text

30 – The use of

images and text in

collaoration is good,

however they aren"t

very alanced and

don"t seem to e

relevant to each

other. The cover

photo doesn"t

communicate that

she is a music artistand she doesn"t

&'()A *T+()'* A- 0#/

seem relevant to the

text. The contents

page images look ok

as they are giving a

rief idea as to what

the rest of the

magazine has to

o6er ut the images

on the doule page

spread have no

relevance to the text.

showing

understandi

ng of

conventions

of layout

and page

design

30 – The

understanding of

page layout is asic

ut well executed

given the content

that the creator has

chosen to put onto

their magazine.

7hilst it looks

slightly cluttered and

full, the images and

texts are kept neat

and tidy apart from

the article numers

on the contents page

as they don"t follow

the ox that haseen placed ehind

it in order to keep it

neat. The doule

page spread is

unconventional yet it

is still pleasant to

look at though it is

nothing interesting

to look at in

particular.

showingawareness

of the need

for variety

in fonts and

text size

30 – Awareness of

the need for

variation in text sizes

in asic ut there

still needs to e

more of a variation.

 The font used on the

headline on the

doule page spread

isn"t really 8headline"

material as it looks

oring and doesn"tstand out at all

against the other

areas of text. )t is

also of di6erent sizes

which makes no

sense at all and

looks uite odd. The

sizing is decent on

the contents page

and makes sense the

way it is presented.

%owever, the text on

the cover page looks

odd as it varies in

size and colour

without any apparent

reason.

using )9T

appropriatel

y for the

task set

:0 – )9T has

een used

correctly in this

piece though

not to the est

standard

perhaps as

there are

errors with the

way things

have een

edited such asthe girls arms

on the front

cover that

have een

edited and cut

poorly and now

look

disproportionat

e.

*+mmary 'ommen#$

)n summary, this piece has potential ut it has not een approached in the

correct way. The creator has not thought aout the way the person on the cover

was supposed to look and as an audience we can"t tell what kind of magazine

this is supposed to e let alone what genre of music it is supposed to represent.

The asic layout of the magazine ) decent ut it could use a little more though

ehind it in order to exploit the important part of the magazine that would

reinforce the fact that it is a music magazine. The images that have een used

aren"t relevant to any genre concerning music and the girl hasn"t een

positioned or photographed in a way that makes her look like a music artist.
