PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Well here we are October! Which to me means the digging season has begun. After becoming increasingly frustrated with the Ravens performance on the field, I decided to go for a walk at a local area known for bottles. The weather was hot, steamy yet very dry and dusty at ground level. I came across the one single bottle which was not broken, an early ABM Fred Bauernschmidt. Albeit, not a rare bottle, by any means, but still a good find in my opinion. Very clean, lots of bubbles and has a very high embossing. Does my description of the bottle and day have the reader to wonder what they actually looked like? Well that brings me to my next subject, our newly created electronic newsletter! Now we can send in our color pictures and stories, articles etc and will come out in the electronic newsletter in full color!! There is no limit to how big the electronic newsletter can be,, and again full awesome color pictures!! So, I encourage all our members to write up a story, send in some bit history you found interesting pertaining to bottles, send some pictures of a great flea market find, or digging expedition so it can be shared by all!!Nic Queen

Unapproved Meetings for B.A.B.C Sept 2015

The regular meeting of the Baltimore Antique Bottle Club was called to order on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 8PM by President Nic Queen at Loch Raven High School with 27 people in attendance. A welcome was given to new members and guests. A moment of silence was held for the victims of 9/11 and to remember this day in history. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes of the June meeting as they appeared in the newsletter.  The Treasurer's Report was provided by Chuck Meyers. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the treasurer's report as given.  Herb Close was in attendance and received a great round of applause for hosting the Annual Picnic and for all the work he and Mabel do to make it such an enjoyable event. The show report was given. Things are progressing at the required pace and people have been informed of the change to the second Sunday of the month in March instead of the first Sunday. Someone is needed to step up to the plate to do mailings of the newsletter to members and clubs with no computers or e-mail access. This would involve about 40 issues a month. After much discussion Paul Fite agreed to do it. We also need volunteers to step forward to bring refreshments in for the monthly meetings. There are no theme bottles tonight or raffle drawing. Donuts and soda were served by the women members of the club at break. At 9PM  members of the club proceeded to show the Summer Finds they acquired and recall where they bought them and in some cases why and how much. It was an interesting collection of bottles and go-withs. The meeting adjourned at 9:35 PM.

Respectfully submitted, Rita Miller, Secretary.

B.A.B.C. at Oriole Park at Camden Yards

A special club outing at the baseball park in Baltimore was held Sunday, September 13, 2015. It had all the elements of a terrific night: good weather, good people to be with, good seats, good baseball food, and a good game with many hits, lots of home runs, and the Baltimore Orioles as the winner over the Kansas City Royals. In short, an A+ experience. It was so much fun that another outing is being planned for next summer with the hope many more of you will join the club in a unique group adventure. Go Orioles!
