A NOTE FROM FATHER
Dear Parishioners, Last weekend, Jennifer shared the year-end financial report. If you were not here, there
are extra reports in the narthex for you to look at. Most of the report is self-explanatory, but if you have
questions, please ask Jennifer or me. There may be some confusion due to the numbers from now on will
be pulled directly from the software that Jennifer uses (this is especially true of the Thrift store, as its income
is divided out to JIS and Faith Formation). Jennifer also mentioned that we had a financial audit. We will be
getting a final written report in couple of months. The auditors will send all the finished reports (there were
about 14 parishes audited this year) to Bishop LeVoir and the Diocesan finance office first, and then Bishop
approves the reports to be sent to the parishes. We will have someone (most likely a council member)
share a summary of that report after which we receive it. Some of the issues they raised in their oral report
to us we have already addressed or were in the midst of addressing, such as using the software to
reconcile and balance the accounts (the Balance sheet now does that) or having a policy on
unbudgeted expenses. There were several other minor things involving written policies.
Next week, we will be visited by the auditor for the Safe Environment program. The auditor will confirm that
all employees and volunteers are in full compliance with background checks and documentation (the
Sexual Misconduct Policy Form B), training, and updated online training. Sarah has been working hard to
assure that all the proper documentation is collected. This is a high-priority matter, so thank you to all
volunteers and employees for being in compliance.
The Marathon was great. Thanks to Colleen Wenner, teachers, parents and students. Thanks to the KCs for
the lunch following. While the weather was a little gray, I think that there was so much joy and fun that the
clouds did not make a difference.
Faith Formation is off to a great start, thank you Mary, Heather, Ben, and John and all volunteers for your
service. Also, we are blessed to have Men’s group, women’s group, Bible study, and Moms’ groups. There
is no lack of opportunity to serve or to learn!

CHURCH OF ST. PETER
Growing Together in a Stewardship
A Good Steward is Proactive
Proactive sounds like a tooth paste or mouth wash.
Actually, proactive means you make the choice.
You are to be a disciple of Christ. You are to be a
light in the world. You must choose these things.
Proactive means you choose to plan your life and
your activities. Being a good steward means you
have to be proactive in your choices about how
you use your time, talent and treasure.
Time: You have control over your time. You choose
how you will use your time. You can’t say, I’ll
become a Lector, if I have time. No, you have to
say I will become a Lector. You, and only you, are
responsible for how you use your time. Remember,
God gave you all the time you need to get done
the things He wants you to do. Note, sometimes you
should say no to something or somebody because
you know it is not the best use of your time for what
God wants you to do.
Talent: God gave you talents that He did not give
any other person living, or ever was, or ever will be.
If that is the case, there is no question you must use
and grow those talents to their full extent. If you
believe you don’t have any talents, then say a
prayer and think about things you like to do. There
are many ministries in your parish, many non-profits
in your community. All have volunteer opportunities.
Surely, one of those ministries has you name on it.
Step out and find it.
Treasure: Take a good look at how you financially
support the work of your parish. Note carefully the
words “Your Parish”. It is “Your Parish”. Look at how
much you contribute. Have you done enough?
How much is enough? Enough is when you give
and there are no more excuses why you don’t give
more. Being a Good Steward is hard work.
Mass 101 - A Walk Through the Mass
Have you ever wondered why we do things the
way we do at Mass each Sunday. Fr. Mike Schmitz
has a 60 minute DVD presentation of the “Walk
through the Mass”. Come and dig a little deeper
into the Mass. This video will be shown on 3 different
evenings:
Oct. 22 at 6:30 pm at St. Paul's
Oct. 25 at 6:30 pm at St. Peter's
Oct. 28 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter's

World Mission Sunday
Calling All Mission Voices!
Next Sunday, World Mission Sunday, we are called
to be part of the Church’s missionary efforts,
supporting mission priests, religious Sisters and
Brothers, and lay catechists who provide loving
service to those most in need.
As Catholics around the world—here at home and
in the Missions - gather at the Eucharist around the
table of the Lord, let us…
PRAY for the Church’s worldwide missionary work
OFFER financial HELP through The Society for the
PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH for vulnerable
communities throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America
and the Pacific Islands.
Catholic Watchmen Gathering
The Catholic Watchmen is a movement calling
men to be protectors, providers and leaders of their
families and parishes. Through regular gatherings,
men will come together to join in this mission to
protect their families through dinner, fellowship,
learning, and prayer.
Our first gathering will be on October 29th from 6:30
-8:30pm. Deacon Mark Kober will be speaking
about being a Catholic man
following the example of St.
Peter. All men of our parish are
invited to the event.
Future gathering will be on
January 28th and May 6th.
Thank You
I would like to thank the Pie Ladies and Ladies of
the parish that donated baked goods, canned
foods and produce for our Bake Sale. Also Sandy
Wilken and all the workers that helped made it a
big success! ~Joann
