sensitive care includes recognition of multiple factors, i.e. ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and social class. Cultural and spiritual factors significantly influence communication with patients and families at end of life. This presentation will review dimensions of culture and spirituality beliefs for patients across the life span.

We will cover the history, purpose and use of End of Life Care Doulas and their growing interest in hospice. Death

Café is an international social franchise for the purpose of talking about death in community settings. The model started in 2004 by Swiss philosopher Bernard Crettaz and has gained popularity worldwide as an attempt to mitigate the taboo of death in society. We plan to review the application of the death café model in New Orleans, where the facilitators have been hosting regular community and hospital-based meetings for over a year.
