Paramount Pictures
Last week we had our first event - a successful advanced screening of Footloose at the local movie theatre. Our team is
now focused on our upcoming Footloose promotions including a "Footloose Fitness" aerobics dance class (10/6), the
Footloose bar party at Pickles (10/12), and street team promotions during Penn State's Homecoming Week. Our team
has created a "Footloose Girl's Night Out Kit," for B94.5 to give away and we are hosting a contest asking Greek
organizations to submit pictures from the best 80's themed social. Between Footloose and Like Crazy, our team is busy
executing all of our promotions.
College of Communications The College of Communications account team currently has been engaged in extensive planning and preparation for this coming semester. Our first project is developing a student survey to gauge student's prior knowledge of the Don Davis Ethics Program and what they would like to see in the program. The team has also been active designing a new logo for the program, to become more recognizable when releasing materials. We worked alongside College of Communications Student Council member Amanda August to settle on different initiatives we plan on implementing including videos, a potential re-vamp of the website and an event for the ethics program.
Benjamin Fehl Art Project
Benjamin Fehl, a Penn State instructor for communication for Architectural Engineering students, is the creator of the
Milesburg Historic Park in Milesburg, Pa. The park, titled Things about the House, examines whether site-specific art in
a neighborhood can function as a catalyst for community development. Drawing on multiple disciplines, including art
history, architecture theory and community planning – this project demonstrates why art is important to the fabric of a
neighborhood. Through media relations, promotional design and the potential development of a sponsorship package,
Happy Valley Communications (HVC) will help bring exposure and knowledge to local, regional and state communities
regarding the Milesburg Historic Park while communicating the importance of art in a community setting.
Global Entrepreneurship Week
Global Entrepreneurial Week is a series of events held all over the world during the week of November 14-20 to
encourage entrepreneurial spirit in young people. Penn State is doing its part to support GE Week by hosting events
each day, starting off with TEDxPSU, and continuing the rest of the week with numerous business seminars,
documentaries, and the culmination of the College of AgSci’s Business Springboard Competition. Keep an eye out as
our account team promotes the presence of GE Week through our own website filled with blogs posts and links to GE
Week's Facebook page and Twitter!
TEDxPSU
TEDxPSU Relics to Revolution will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 13 in Alumni Hall. Upcoming events
include the second Salon that will showcase HVC's Director of Business Affairs and her work with EcoCar on Thursday,
October 13. There will also be a Davey Lab Tour from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21. To get ready for the
big day, the team has been working on writing stories about the speakers for the event that will be featured in several
media outlets, in addition to descriptions about the student organizations for the Xpo. The team is also working on
incorporating the Penn State community into TEDxPSU.

Penn State Computer Store This semester our team’s focus is the Penn State's Computer Store Fall 2011 Expo. The Expo theme is "Tech or Treat" and will be held on Thursday, Oct 27 on the first floor of the HUB from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our team will be doing research, creating a media kit and focusing on social media and gorilla marketing techniques to draw attention to the event. Make sure to find us on Facebook and Twitter and join the conversation #TechOrTreat11 Centre County Special Olympics
The kick-off meeting of the Special Olympics Beaver Stadium Run was exciting! There are so many groups working on
this project and our team is coordinating our campaign in conjunction with the different groups. The fall campaign will be
designed for buying ad space, getting sponsorships, maintaining social media, and planning events to raise awareness
for the spring's event. The spring campaign will be designed to register participants and promote the run. Right now my
team is focusing on the big picture as we plan both of these campaigns.
Agricultural Sciences Competition The Ag Business Springboard Competition helps students broaden their horizons to other job and career opportunities that their major and entrepreneurship offers them. Eighteen teams of students will be working on developing, planning, and pitching their own business plans for an idea that they have created that relates to improving agriculture. HVC will be providing resources and motivation for these students as they create their business plans. A Business Plan 101 Workshop will be held for the competitors on October 5 in 104 Forest Resources Building. Six teams will be selected to move to the final round of judging on November 14, where there will be a banquet at the Nittany Lion Inn for all the participating teams and the winning team will receive a $5,000 prize.
Two Sisters Fina Cocina The SBDC team had a jump start into the campaign for their current client, Two Sisters Fina Cocina. The business is run by two sisters: Kim and Constance Richardson and produces two types of mexican cooking sauces that are made from different peppers. They are looking to expand into new markets and find more distributers for the sauce. TSFC is currently conducting a philanthropic campaign and donating products with outdated labels to food banks in Hazleton, PA, Lancaster, PA, and Harrisburg, PA. The team is working to promote this donation in the local newspapers and also in Hispanic publications in each area. Campus Sustainability Office The Campus Sustainability Office (CSO) at Penn State is responsible for increasing sustainability in university operations through behavioral change, communication and sustainable operating initiatives. The CSO has also, for the past few years, taken on Earth Day at Penn State as a platform to communicate green initiatives at PSU to students, faculty and members of the community. HVC is proud to partner with the CSO this year to help plan and promote their Earth Day and Earth Week celebrations. This year, the Earth Day event will take place on Friday, April 20. Through local media relations, survey collection from the Penn State student body, social media outreach and communication with eco-conscious student groups and the Commonwealth campuses, HVC will assist the CSO in making Earth Day a reality this spring.
