Greetings from the Extension Staff and Volunteers of our FCS programs,
September proved to be a busy month and October is gearing up for
more fun activities and programs for you to enjoy! Check out the calendar of
events there may be something you find interesting to join. There is also some
Save the Dates you may want to jot down to remember.
We will be having the “Pink Ribbon Luncheon” October 12, 2016 at
noon. Lunch will be provided by the Extension office for those who attend.
There will be some guest speakers in attendance as well. If you or someone you
know is a cancer survivor, please let us know so we can make sure we send
them an invitation.
Patchwork Playdates is going strong and they will be having an outing at
the White Oak Pumpkin Patch. The Quilt Guild will be going to Maysville
Monday, October 17th for an adventure and educational tour. Come join the
fun!
Looking ahead to November, remember that we will be having a Home-
maker Membership drive. Be thinking of someone you can invite to become a
part of something bigger. There are so many things to enjoy as a Homemaker!
Be involved and let’s make this next year even better.

The Sew-What Quilters will
meet on Saturday, October
8th, at 9:00 AM. You will
continue on the Sunbonnet
by the Month project.
Beginners sewing
A new Beginners Sewing
Class began on Thursday,
September 22nd. New sew-
ers filled the room ready to
get to work. This is an 8
week workshop that will con-
tinue every Thursday through
November 10th.

Funyons
The Funyons Homemakers
are scheduled to met on
Thursday, September 8,
2016. The held their officers
elections: President, Whit-
ney Jenkins, Vice President,
Broooke Jenkins-Howard,
Secretary, Tammy Smith,
and Treasurer, Mindy
Arnett. The Funyons next
meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, October 13, 2016
at 6:00 PM. Mindy will be
teaching a “Spooktacular
Surprise” lesson. Invite a
friend and boost your home-
maker group!
Ivyton Hippie Chx
The Ivyton Hippie Chx met
on Tuesday, September 13,
2016. Their lesson was on
“Pie Crusts.” New officers
were selected: President,
Nancy Lykins, Vice Presi-
dent, Susie Huesman, Secre-
tary, Dedorah Bryant, and
Treasurer, Janice Lemaster.
The Hippie Chx next meet-
ing is scheduled for Tuesday,
October 11th at 6:00 PM.
The lesson, “Square Danc-
ing” will be taught by Henri-
etta Fletcher and Joyce Jo-
seph. Invite a friend to join
the fun!
Jr. Homemakers
There is no activity with the
Junior Homemakers at this
time.
The Magoffin County Homemakers are part of the Ken-tucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA). KE-HA is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for the families and communities through
leadership development, in Magoffin County.

Wise and Wooly Club
The Wise and Wooly Club held their first meeting on Monday, September 5th, 2016.
This club is led by Susie Huesman. The group meets 2 times a month (1st and 3rd
Monday of the month. They have started work on a sewing room table topper. They
are scheduled to meet on Monday, October 3rd and October 17th.

filling in the gap while the FCS Agent position is vacant.
