October President’s Message
I would like to start off with a big thank you to South Florida Water Management District – Lower West Coast Service Center for their hospitality at our September meeting and Phil Flood for his excellent presentation on Lake Okeechobee and Everglades Restoration. Growing up in Southwest Florida I have some background on the matter but still managed to take away a great deal from the presentation. I know many professionals appreciate the PDH’s as well!
We have a different and interesting topic scheduled for our October meeting. We have ABC7 Chief Meteorologist John Patrick with a presentation on hurricane models, tracking, and predictions. This topic applies to our locale and our profession. Please join us for an interesting and informational luncheon at the Holiday Inn off of Alico!
Our annual joint golf tournament with ASCE is scheduled for November 5th at Stoney Brook. If you have not already signed up, there is still time and availability.
We are teaming up with the Panther Island Mitigation Bank again this year for our next meeting on November 11th. This is always a lot of fun and you can bring the family with you. Details for the BBQ can be found in the newsletter.
The FES Journal is seeking articles to be published in upcoming monthly issues. Please see the listing within this newsletter for upcoming topics and additional details regarding style.
Finally, we are in the midst of planning a holiday event with ASCE on December 2, so please stay tuned!
Thank you,
Wes Kayne
President
