october 2018october is manufacturers month As we celebrate manufacturers month during october, thank you to all the manufacturers in the Hudson area for the impact that you are making in our community.
on monday, october 22, 2018 at the city council meeting, the mayor will proclaim the month of october, 2018 as “manufacturing month” in the city of Hudson and call upon all citizens to acknowledge and recognize the important vital role the city’s manufacturing facilities have in growing and maintaining a vital economic base for the city of Hudson.
the following highlights the impact of manufacturing in Wisconsin:• $59 Billion – Wisconsin manufacturers produce $59 billion worth of output – making up 18.2% of the state’s Gross Domestic Product.
• $1 out of $5 – For every $5 created by Wisconsin’s economy, $1 is from manufacturing
• 9,375 – the number of manufacturers in Wisconsin
• 466,806 – the number of manufacturing workers in Wisconsin
• 2nd in the Nation – Wisconsin added more manufacturing jobs in the last year (August 2017 – August 2018) than 48 other states• 828 – the number of students who participated in a manufacturing Youth Apprenticeship during the 2017-18 school year
• 86% - the number of manufacturing workers living in Wisconsin who have a job with health insurance benefits, compared to 76% for all jobs

1. Tell us which issues matter to you. As you know, members are the driving force of the Hudson chamber. tell us what issues matter to you – the Chamber is the voice for business. A membership survey will be sent to you in november for your feedback and suggestions on how the chamber can provide value to your business.
2. Attend a Chamber event. check your newsletter each month for upcoming chamber events. Promote your business, meet other chamber members and find out what is going on in the community.

The mission of this committee promotes a healthy business climate by providing a venue for promotions and communication among business owners and managers to discuss and exchange ideas and issues unique to their business. each month, one member can highlight their business with a 10 minute presentation featuring their products, services and promotions. this committee also plans the annual Hilltop Pumpkin Party that will be held on Saturday, october 20, 2018.

the chamber’s nominating committee is currently accepting names for candidates to fill three positions on the Chamber Board of Directors. Nominations may be mailed to the Chamber and addressed to the Nominating Committee (502 2nd Street, Hudson, WI 54016).
Serving on a Board of any organization should always be considered an honor, and the Chamber Board is no exception. A board member is regarded as a leader in the business community, a visionary able to determine trends of the future.
Additional names of candidates for Directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least ten (10) qualified members of the Chamber. Such petition shall be filed with the Nominating Committee within ten (10) days after notice has been given of the names of those nominated. the determination of the nominating committee as to the legality of the petition shall be final. hiLLtop pumpKin partythe annual Hilltop Pumpkin Party is set for Saturday, October 20th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at YMCA Camp St. Croix.
This FREE family event, attended by hundreds to thousands of children and their parents, features a variety of activities including a petting zoo, inflatables, horse drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch with pumpkin painting, children’s costume contest and more.
