From the Director…
Dear Parents,
We are off and running at Hope Parent’s Day Out and Preschool!
The children are adjusting to the school day and their new
schedules. It is delightful to see them moving from one activity to
another and hearing their joyful voices throughout the hallways. A
huge thank you to the volunteer parents who have been staying to
help make the transition smoother for the little ones! Your help is
invaluable.
Thank you for coming to our Open House… we were thrilled to have
you come with your children and meet their teachers. We loved
seeing you all and our hope is that the morning helped ease the
transition into school and raised your comfort level in leaving your
children in our care.
Did you know that we have fire drills each month? This helps to
keep our children safe, ensuring they know what to do in case of an
emergency. To build bridges with our community helpers, we are
having visits from Greenwood Village Police and South Metro Fire
on September 30th and October 1st and 2nd. While seeing their
vehicles is the highlight of their visits, the children also learn what to
do in an emergency and learn that these community workers are
here to help us. We also have Tornado Drills and Lockdown Drills
each month.
Did you know that 15 hours of In-Service training are required
annually for all who work in early education? On Friday, October
4th, Hope will be closed so the staff can attend a full day of classes
and training. It is a wonderful way for us to keep on top of new
ideas and become better-informed educators.
Picture week is October 7th. We will be having class and individual
pictures throughout the week. We will send more information home
soon.

All our before and after school enrichment activities are off and running! Our Monday and
Tuesday Jump Bunch kids are busy moving, and Miss Kim has our Dancers off to a great
start. Nicole Conry is busy teaching Spanish. Muy buen! Mrs. H and her PEP (Preschool
Enrichment Program) kids are busy learning and having fun every day after school. We still
have a few openings on some days in each of these activities. Let us know if you are
interested. There are forms outside of the office as well.
~So many thank yous~
We had our first delicious staff breakfast September 6. A BIG thank you goes out to Julie
Orton. What a treat!
We had a successful Scholastic Book Fair last week. A huge thank you to Debbie Kadlec for
chairing this event. Thank you to Jennifer Gibson and Tarin Trobec for helping set up and to
all of our volunteers who covered a shift! What a blessing this community is! Thank you!
~Noteworthy and Newsworthy~
• Thank you for your help with sunscreen! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
If you want your child to get some vitamin D each day, please come by the office and
check the “exempt” box for sunscreen. If you want your child to have sunscreen each
day before playground time we are asking you to please supply a sunscreen stick
labeled with your child’s name. Sunscreen sticks will make it easy for the staff to apply
sunscreen to so many children. Sunscreen cannot be kept in totes, so please be sure it is
with your child’s teacher.
• Thank you for signing up for your emergency volunteer days. You will receive a reminder
email from Sign Up Genius a few days before your day, and there will be a list of monthly
volunteers in our newsletter. If you need to double check the day you signed up for or
change your day, the link is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4facaf23aaf85-
emergency2. If it is your day to be our emergency parent, please come and check in
with the office that morning. Remember to keep your calendar open for the day, just in
case. We greatly appreciate your help.

• Halloween is just around the corner! To celebrate, we have a fun sing along and
costume party with our preschool, Pre-K and JrK children on Wednesday and Thursday,
October 30th and 31st. We will start at about 9:45 upstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Parents
are welcome to join us for the fun. The children parade in a circle by class, and then we
do a group sing along. If your child does not come on those days, you are more than
welcome to join us! (Bears and Hedgehogs will celebrate in their rooms.)
• Fall Break is October 14th - October 18th.
• Please remember that we follow the Cherry Creek School District for holidays and school
closure days. If Cherry Creek Schools are closed, so are we. If they are on a delay, we
have a 30-minute delay, with school starting at 9:30.
• King Soopers has a NEW, more convenient way to give back to Hope. To enroll, register
your King Soopers loyalty card online, then connect your account to Hope PDO and
Preschool. Once you have selected Hope, you are done! Each time you make a
purchase and scan your SooperCard or alternate ID, a percentage will be given back to
our school. Fliers with additional instructions are available outside the office. Thank you to
all parents who are shopping at King Soopers and contributing to Hope.
• Please remember to sign your child in and out each day with your full signature. Initials
do not satisfy the state requirements for these papers which are legal documents. We
ask that you please remember to sign your child out of any enrichment that they attend
as well. Thank you!
• Please remember that school hours are 9:00-1:00 each day. Please do not leave your
child in their classroom until the teacher is in the room. Thank you!
• At each of your child’s well visits, ask your doctor for new, signed Health and
Immunization Forms for our records. You can pick up Hope’s specific Health Form in the
office or use the general Health Form from your doctor’s office. State regulations require
updated forms annually. Thank you for helping us keep our files up to date!

Director’s Letter (continued from page 3)
• If you have any changes regarding your information, please let us know. We need up to
date phone numbers, addresses, and lists of people who are allowed to pick up your
child.
• The healthy lunches and snacks that we are seeing are wonderful - thank you so
much! And thank you for bringing those full water bottles each day. It is so important for
the children to have easy access to water throughout the day.
• We have posted playground rules outside for all to see. We appreciate your help in
following these rules when you are outside with your children, as this makes it easier for us
all to be consistent. Thank you!
• If you have papers in your child’s tote for us, please be sure to tell us as we don’t check
the inside of totes regularly.
• We already have a few items in the lost in found, including a pink scooter and helmet.
We thank you for choosing Hope for your young children’s early childhood experience. We
are very excited about the school year and all the fun, love and learning that is already
happening! It is a blessing to work with your beautiful children.
Serving Him with love,
Robyn Maxum

Nursery Rhymes In keeping with our belief that kindergarten readiness begins at birth, we will be stressing several
nursery rhymes each month. Children love Mother Goose because “she enchants the ears and
knows how to make words sound wonderful.” This is a big part of phonemic (the sounds that letters
make) awareness and is a necessary pre-reading tool. Help your children learn these rhymes and
have fun! The nursery rhymes we will be using are taken from Mother Goose: A Treasury of Best-
Loved Rhymes illustrated by Tim and Greg Hildebrandt and edited by Watty Piper.

September Mary Had A Little Lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
It's fleece was white as snow;
And everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school one day
Which was against the rule;
It made the children laugh and play,
To see a lamb at school.
And so the teacher turned him out,
But still he lingered near;
And waited patiently about
Till Mary did appear
"What makes the lamb love Mary
so?"
The eager children cry;
"Why, Mary loves the lamb, you
know,"
The teacher did reply.
Hey Diddle Diddle
Hey diddle diddle,
The Cat and the fiddle,
The Cow jumped over the moon,
The little Dog laughed to see such
sport,
And the Dish ran away with the
Spoon

September Teddy Bear
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Turn around!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Touch the ground!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Jump up high!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Touch the sky!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Bend down low!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Touch you toes!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Turn out the light!
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Say good night!
Hickory Dickory Dock
Hickory Dickory dock,
The mouse ran up the clock,
The clock struck one
The mouse ran down,
Hickory Dickory dock.

October Peter, Peter, Pumpkin-Eater
Peter, Peter, pumpkin-eater,
Had a wife and couldn’t keep
her.
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.
Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider crawled up
the water spout.
Down came the rain, and
washed the spider out.
Out came the sun, and dried up
all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider went up
the spout again.
Little Boy Blue
Little Boy Blue, come blow your
horn,
The sheep's in the meadow, the
cow's in the corn.
But where is the boy, who looks
after the sheep?
He's under a haystack, he's fast
asleep.

PDO Families - you are invited to Hope's annual Trunk or Treat! It will be held
on Saturday, October 26th from 4-6pm in the Hope parking lot. Trunk or Treat
is a fun Halloween activity where kids can dress up and safely trick or treat
from decorated vehicles in our parking lot. We also have crafts and a cake
walk on the lawn. We will need people who are willing to decorate their
trunks/vehicles and are also looking for donations for the Cake Walk. We ask
that you sign up if you're going to attend so we can be sure to have enough
food! A light dinner will be served. You can sign up here https://
www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044fa8a728a1fa7-trunk3 or on the poster near
the Welcome Center, which will go up in early October. Please contact
