dwelling fire -This afternoon the Stamford Fire
Department (Stamford Professional Fire Fighters
Association) battled a second alarm dwelling fire on
Wardwell Street. On arrival they were faced with heavy
fire conditions from the garage of the dwelling extending
to the floors above.

10/03/19 Hartford, CT 230 Capen St. dwelling
fire—HEAVY FIRE IN THE NORTH END: Hartford
“B” Tour firefighters went to work just before the end
of their tour Thursday morning on Capen Street.
Companies responded to 230 Capen Street after
numerous calls were received reporting a structural fire
at that location. Units arrived with heavy fire showing
from a two and-a-half story dwelling which was
threatening a nearby exposure structure. Firefighters
took aggressive action sweeping the exposure
structure and holding the blaze to the building of
origin. Heavy fire soon broke through the structure’s
roof, requiring a brief elevated master stream
operation.

-On 10/3/19 at 06:53 Hartford, Ct started receiving
calls for the building fire at 240 Capen St. Companies
arrived to heavy smoke showing with fire extending
to the B side exposure.

Dwelling fire—City of Peekskill crews with mu-
tual aid made quick work of this residential struc-
ture fire on Oakridge Pkwy last night. PFD was
dispatched to a reported chimney fire, while re-
sponding they were updated to a structure fire
with fire showing from the roof. Fire was under
control within about half hour. Mutual aid was
requested from surrounding agencies.

from an industrial hopper to the rear of the build-
ing. Mutual aid assisted at the scene and for cover-

working fire just before shift change in the 3100 blk
of Austin Hwy. Crews found heavy fire and smoke

10/11/19 Tempe, AZ W. University Blvd. tax-
payer fire—The City of Tempe Az. Fire Depart-
ment operated at this commercial structure fire in
a small strip mall on West University Blvd.
Thursday evening October 10th. A one engine
response was initiated for smoke in the area which
was upgraded to a working apartment fire.
Firefighters quickly discovered that the smoke in
the apartment complex was actually coming from
the strip mall next door. Firefighters forced entry
into the strip mall and made quick work of
extinguishing the fire.

10/11/19 Rocky Hill, CT Cold Spring Rd. MVA— the
Rocky Hill Fire Department received a call to respond to
a MVA on Cold Spring Road. Engines 1 &2 and Rescue
3 responded.
Upon arrival, a vehicle was discovered to have flipped
over and tangled in power wires. Eversource was called
and promptly arrived to take control of the power lines
making sure all power was off allowing an extrication of
the civilian.
Due to the nature of the accident, there will most likely
be some power outages in the area.

Firefighters were credited for saving an occupied
three-decker on Farren Avenue in New Haven, CT
on 10/11/19. The blaze, that was confined the
exterior of the OMD, was extending upwards when
fire crews arrived.

fire—Firefighters stretched a hose line into a large
factory building on Grant Street in New Haven CT
on 10/14/19. The fire, in the mostly vacant
building, was confined to a storage room at the rear
of the structure.

fire- The Hartford Fire Department was toned
out for a Structure fire at 145 Barker Street.
The first arriving units reported smoke
showing from the A/D corner. The fire was
brought under Control a short time later. No
Injuries were reported.

10/17/19 Bolton, CT Linwood Dr. dwelling fire—
the Bolton, Ct FD members were toned out along
with the surrounding towns for automatic mutual aid
for a structure fire in the area of Linwood Dr. First
member on scene reported a working fire at 9 Or-
chard Ln. The electrical lines from pole to pole in
the street and down Orchard Ln were smoking on
arrival. As members were advancing the line inside
conditions changed for the worse very quickly with
a power line dropping on the first line in front of the
house. Members were able to keep the fire to one
side of the house. Pat Dooley
10/16/19 Carrollton, NY So. 9 Mile Rd. Gas tanker—
Catt Co Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a reported
tractor trailer rollover in the Town of Carrollton
(Limestone) on the South 9 Mile Road. Driver was self
extricated with no injuries. Fire was requested to the
scene due to the tanker being loaded with just over 8500
gallons of gasoline. There were some minor leaks from
tractor as well as the trailer that were quickly con-
tained. IRM from Olean responded with their equip-
ment and started assessing the damage. A second
tanker truck was requested to assist with the transfer of
the gasoline in the tanker. The City of Olean Fire
Department was requested to the scene with their foam
trailer as a precaution.

Ave—Firefighters in New Haven, CT quickly
contained a two-alarm fire that ripped through the
attic of a home at 154 Hallock Avenue on 10/17/19.
The attic and third floor were heavily damaged
during the mid-afternoon blaze.

comm building fire—Greenwich volunteer fire-
fighters battled a commercial building fire at 522
East Putnam Avenue. Crews made an aggressive
interior attack and were able to quickly knock down
the fire

10/20/19 San Antonio, TX 500 W. Drexel dwelling
fire—Engine Co. No. 13 laid out on a working dwelling
fire in the 500 blk of W. Drexel St. in the cities “Denver
Heights” area. Engine 13 had heavy fire on the al-
pha side in a single story, single family, wood framed
dwelling. Engine 13 pulled a preconnect and caught their
own plug while Engine Co. No. 3 and Engine Co. No. 7
assisted with fire attack while Ladder Co. No. 9
conducted a search and ventilation. Companies faced
some extra hazards in the form of power lines that
burned off the house and were arcing in the front yard,
however, thanks to a coordinated and aggressive attack
Battalion Chief 6 was able to out tap the box and can-
celed the working fire assignment at around the 12 min
time stamp. Companies on the ticket were EN03 EN07
EN13 TK09 BC06

At 4:23pm, the Rocky Hill Fire Department was called
to respond to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival
the emergency presented was that a civilian pedestrian
was struck by a motor vehicle in the parking lot of
West Side Market.

this scrap metal fire at 1571 Page Blvd, Chet's Auto
Yard today just after 3pm. It took firefighters about
2 hours to being the fire under control.

Ave MVA—New Milford Fire Department
responded to a confirmed motor vehicle accident with
entrapment on the boulevard and Henley Avenue. One
of the cars in the accident the driver had to be
extricated from the vehicle. All parties involved in the
accident were checked out by EMS and transported to
local hospital. No further information is available
regarding this accident it is under investigation.

10/30/19 West Haven, CT—221 Tetlow St. fatal
dwelling fire—Fire fighters arrived to find smoke
showing from both floors of a two story, private
dwelling. They were alerted while enroute that one
occupant was reported trapped. Members of Truck 1
arrived and started forcible entry and searches under
colliers mansion conditions. One handicapped
victim was located on the first floor. Members had
difficulty with removal due to the hoarding
conditions. The fire rapidly extended to the second
floor and through the roof. Firefighters were
withdrawn due to the conditions and darkened down
the fire with a quick exterior attack. The victim was
pronounced at the scene. The cause of the fire is
under investigation by the state and local fire
marshal.
