Here’s what’s new with UIL…

Our coaches and students have spent weeks preparing for

the first UIL competition, which will take place after school

on Tuesday, October 23rd. We have just one more practice

before the big event!

It takes a lot of staff to make this event run smoothly.

Most contests end between 4-4:15, but after the students

leave, teachers will stay after to judge and/or grade each

event. We are seeking food donations for these

volunteers.

If you are able to make a contribution, please visit the link

below. We greatly appreciate any support!

2nd Annual

Halloween Candy Buy Back

Cunningham Orthodontics, P.C. and Wildey Pediatric Dentistry are partnering with Soldiers’ Angels - Treats for Troops and our local DSISD elementary school PTA’s.

Halloween falls on Wednesday, October 31st so kids can bring their unopened candy to school Thursday, November 1st – Friday, November 9th. For all the candy donated we will pay $1 per pound to your school’s PTA and the generous candy donations will be sent in care packages to our troops overseas.

Our Soldiers love getting letters. If you would like to include a thank you for your service letter with your candy donation, we will make sure it gets to the Soldiers Angels Volunteers who ship the boxes overseas to our troops.

Thank you for your support!

Dear Believer in Exceptional Education,

Did you know that Dripping Springs Independent School District’s (DSISD) 2017 graduation rate was 100%?

That’s more than 10 percentage points higher than Texas’ average rate of 89.1%. Why is DSISD so success-

ful? It’s because of parents like you who are believers in exceptional education, who support our District, its

students and teachers with fervor. Today, we’d like to ask that you consider supporting the Dripping Springs

Education Foundation (DSEF) as well, whose mission is to join alongside you, in supporting excellence in

academics and leadership at every one of our local schools.

“I’m so grateful that our DSISD teachers and these groups support a well-rounded education

for our kids. It truly takes a village, and having groups like Dripping Springs Education

Foundation support the students and our amazing, dedicated teachers on these projects

makes all the difference.”

- Stacey Allison-Steinbach (Innovative Teacher Grant Recipient)

Last year, DSEF awarded $161,074.00 to students and teachers in DSISD to foster a higher

degree of inventive experiences through Innovative Teacher Grants, Student Leadership Grants,

and support of students whose financial circumstances present a challenge to participation in

school-sanctioned activities or events through the Nick LeFevre Community Youth Fund.

We want to do even more next year to support exceptional education but we need your help! This year, we have a lofty goal to inspire every DSISD family to donate to DSEF but it’s

because we believe in our community’s commitment to its teachers and students. Will you consider a $25 gift to DSEF so we can continue funding innovative teachers, student leaders, and students in need?

You may access our website at www.dseducationfoundation.org to make a donation that will

support exceptional education in Dripping Springs. 100% of your donation will stay in DSISD and is

100% tax deductible.

Thank you for your gift, your commitment and your trust in the work that we’re doing!

The arts—and the National PTA Reflections program—support

student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong

partnerships in your school community. Celebrate arts learning

in your school community with Reflections.

National PTA Reflections® 2018-2019 Theme: “Heroes Around Me”

This handout is a brief introduction to the Reflections program. For more information please go to:

https://www.txpta.org/reflections

Grade Divisions: Students may enter the Reflections® program in the appropriate division for their grade.

• Primary: Preschool – Grade 2 * Intermediate: Grades 3-5 * Special Artist: All grades welcome (please refer

• Middle School: Grades 6-8 * High School: Grades 9-12 to the Special Artist Rules)

There are six arts categories. Students may enter the Reflections program in one or more arts categories with no limit to the amount

of entries in a single category.

Entry Requirements: (All participants must also follow arts category rules)

• Student Entry Process: The student entry form must be complete with signatures and all contact information requested. Local

PTA Reflections chair information must be entered where requested.

relates to the theme, and the content of the work. The statement must include 10-100 words.

• Each entry must be the original work of one student only. An adult may not alter the creative integrity of a student’s work.

Because the program is designed to encourage and recognize each student’s individual creativity, help from an adult or
