Discipleship & EvangelizationAs Paul explained to Timothy, it is vital that we be faithful people with the ability to teach others about our faith (2 Tim. 2:2). To first become a disciple, one must desire to grow spiritually and think about those things that can enable that growth (Phil. 4:8). Do you have that desire? If so, what are your next steps? Is it participation in a ministry? Is it becoming more involved in the ministry you are currently in? Is it attending one of Holy Family’s faith formation series? Take that first step on the road to becoming a disciple!

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY    “We do not hesitate to affirm again publicly that we put great confidence in the Holy Rosary for the healing of evils of our times” (Pope Pius XII)

Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come

Revelation is the first “ongoing” study in The Great Adventure Bible Study Program. In this intriguing look at one of the most talked-about books in Scripture, Jeff Cavins explores Revelation to demonstrate how the kingdom established by Christ in his Church is intimately connected with the kingdom of heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass.

Join us for Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come, which began September 27. We are offering this program between the Masses on Sunday mornings (9:30-10:45 a.m.), Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m., and Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. To register for the study, please complete a registration form found on the parish website or in the Family Room. Please contact Tiffany at [email protected] with any questions.

WINTER CALENDAR INPUTS DUE: We are planning for the church’s Winter Calendar that covers from November 29 (First Sunday in Advent) through February 10, 2016 (Ash Wednesday). All are Welcome!Join Church of the Holy Family Community as we welcome new families and members on Saturday, November 7, after the 5:30 Mass. We hope to celebrate new friendships and perhaps renew old ones as well. Bring your favorite hors d’oeuvre to share and enjoy a time to welcome and give thanks for friends and our Holy Family Community.

“CARE FOR OUR EARTH” Water conservation can be fostered by the dishware we use! REUSABLE dishware is more sustainable than disposable dishware even when accounting for the water and electricity that are used for washing. Here are a few facts, presented by the Stanford University Magazine “Environmental Management,” that support this assertion:

• One paper plate takes 8 gallons of water to manufacture.

• Running a dishwasher uses approximately 3-15 gallons of water, depending on the age and efficiency of the machine; whereas, washing 12 place settings (including dishes, glasses, and cutlery) by hand uses approximately 27 gallons of water.

• Transporting a set of dishes from the manufacturer to the buyer creates approximately 2-4 grams of greenhouse gas for every MILE it travels.

• Manufacturing reusable dishware does require more energy than manufacturing disposables does. For instance, initially a typical ceramic cup would have to be reused hundreds of times to match the lesser energy required to manufacture one foam cup. However, the reuse of the ceramic cup for a year or two will make up for the cost of that disposable cup. Furthermore, during that year or two, hundreds more disposable cups would have had to be manufactured.

Water conservation is a vital issue. Whatever we can do to reduce our use of water is of great importance.
