INTERNSHIP – DEFINITION
• An "internship" is an opportunity offered by an employer to students / "interns" to work at a firm for a fixed period of time
• An "internship" is a period of time during which a beginner acquires experience in an occupation, profession

1. Apply Classroom Knowledge: opportunity to use the skills learned in the classroom
2. Gain Valuable Work Experience : provides hands on work experience not obtained in the classroom

ELIGIBILITY FOR SUMMER 2014 INTERNSHIP
• Business major students• Be juniors• Have completed by end of Fall semester at least:
• 38 credit hours (if admitted as sophomores)or • 68 credit hours (if admitted as freshmen)
• Have completed (by end of Spring semester): FINA 210, MNGT 215, MKTG 210, and INFO 200

INTERNSHIP – GUIDELINES
• Duration: 8 weeks – during Summer Session
• Between May 19th and August 31st
• Work week: not less than 5 working days
• Working Hours: as per the host company (not less that 6 hours)
• Supervision: AUB: OSB Faculty Mentor
Company: Work Supervisor
• Grading: based on evaluations of direct work supervisor and OSB mentor
• The internship grade is included in the overall average

HOW TO FIND AN INTERNSHIP?
• Prepare your CV• Solicit your own internship through personal effort:
• Spread the word: Networking is the #1 way to find opportunities• Talk to senior students or alumni• Talk directly to employers: Job Fairs, .. • browse the internet & apply online (through company website)
• Check the list of previous host companies and their contact details on OSB website
• Check the list of internship that will be posted on OSB Career Development Center (Only one can be selected)
• Start looking for an internship Now! Don’t postpone..

INTERNSHIP PROCESS STEP 1 – ONLINE REGISTRATION
• Online Registration: Mandatory (independent from AUBsis)• Between February 1st – February 28th
• OSB–BBA Career Services will send Imail to all eligible students to register online
• To register online: 1. Log to OSB website: http://sb.aub.edu.lb2. ->> Student Services ->> Career Development Center3. Select OSB Students, Intern4. Choose a username and a password and register
• Completing the online application is mandatory, if you do not register you will not be able to officially register for your internship

INTERNSHIP PROCESS STEP 2 – SECURING AN INTERNSHIP
• Deadline for securing an internship: April 15th
• Students who solicit their own internships, should provide the school with an official Acceptance Letter (on company letter head) from the host company by April 15th at the latest.

• Acceptance Letters Should Clearly State:– Student Name– The beginning and the end dates of the internship period (Any
8 weeks between May 19th & August 31th 2013).– The department joined, and the name and title of the direct
work supervisor if available– The e-mail, phone, fax, and address of the company and the
direct supervisor.
• All internships are considered approved unless notified otherwise
• By April 15th all registered students should have an assigned internship

• At the beginning of May 2014, students will be assigned an academic Mentor (not necessarily Advisor).
• Students should check their OSB Career Development Center account to contact the mentor for further instructions before the start of the internship

• Can I do my internship in two different companies?– Yes, Min. 4weeks/company & one acceptance
letter/company (no interruption)
• If a company requests an official verification letter from AUB, what should I do?– Bring the business card of your contact(s) to OSB–BBA Career
Services, and we will prepare the letter. No letters addressed “to whom it may concern”.

• What if I do not have an internship by April 15th, 2014?– You might have to postpone your internship until the summer
of 2015
• What if the company does not confirm acceptance by April 15th ?– Stress the deadline to the host company (University
requirement - April 15th). Communicate
• Can I work for a family business?– The answer is “Preferably No”. However, we look at case by case
basis.19

• What papers should I provide the OSB–BBA Career Services if I intend to do my internship abroad?
• An official acceptance letter, same process as if you are doing in Lebanon
• How many courses I am allowed to take with the internship?
• one 3-credit course, in addition to 0-credit workshops after working hours
• What if I did not complete all the required courses by the end of Fall semester?
