In Conclusion . . . Independent proprietary institutions have a long history in Illinois—dating

back to the Civil War—of serving the educational needs of students. We have a diverse student population of both traditional and non-traditional

students. Programs of study have evolved in the 20 th century from their roots in

business and vocational training to advanced degrees that meet both academic and career needs of today’s students.

Our campuses directly contribute nearly half a billion dollars annually to the Illinois economy through employment of faculty and staff, purchase of goods and services, rents, and taxes paid.

Our graduates, with their higher lifetime earning potential, contribute further to the state’s economy.

Our campuses, students, alumni, faculty and staff have a proud record of community service and responsible citizenship.
