Contributions from Churches Aug, 2017 Neuse Notes from Jon

Article XII in our NBA Constitution yields Spiritual Emphasis. It states, “the month of October shall be designated as Association Emphasis Month in our Association. All church-es are asked to set aside the last week of Octo-ber as Week of Prayer for Association Missions and receive an offering for the mission activities of the Association.” Your response by church and blessed individuals would be much appre-ciated. Presently, our NBA budget is running around $10,000 in the red. As you read this Neuse Notes, we con-tinue to minister at the Wayne County Fair handing out gospel tracts and salvation brace-lets. Your help would be appreciated. We are there daily from 5PM until dark; the last day of ministry with the Fair is October 7. Also, each church’s Annual Congregation Profile is due by Friday October 6. Senior Citizens are reminded that their State Fair Trip — complete with free transporta-tion, entrance to the fair and breakfast provided by Bojangle’s — is October 17. We’ll be leav-ing Adamsville Church at 8AM. Please call the Association by October 12th if you plan to join us! The 21st of October is our annual WMU Salad Event. It begins at 10AM, and will be held at the RTC. Ladies are asked to bring a salad to share; Fanny J. Crosby will be the featured speaker! Finally, please plan to attend one or both sessions of the NBA Annual Meetings. On Monday, 10/23 we’ll meet at La Grange First Missionary at 7PM; on Tuesday, 10/24 we’ll meet at Seven Springs Baptist, also at 7PM. We will be approving the annual budget and list of volunteers from the Nominating Committee, among other business. Much prayer is needed for our country as we recover from the hurricanes and as we work through the tremendous challenges of running our land. Thankfully God is still in con-trol and still loves us, employing His Grace and Mercy. What He asks from us is our obedi-ence.

Rev. Johnny Sasser

June 1, 1937—September 16, 2017

John C. “Johnny” Sasser passed away at home Satur-day afternoon, September 16. He has gone to his Heavenly home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. “Well done thou good and faithful servant…enter thou in to the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21

He passed away at his home on Saturday, September 16. He was ordained into the ministry at Emmaus Baptist Church in 1971 and would spend more than 40 years as a pastor of three Southern Baptist Churches, Pikeville First Baptist (over 14 years), Emmaus Baptist (over 21 years), and Trinity Mis-sionary Baptist Church (5 years). He officially retired on April 12, 2015, following a total 501 baptisms and a ministry that included the addition of 339 more souls that would join with the churches he shepherd-ed. Johnny served as Summer Associational Mission-ary for the Neuse Baptist Association the Summers of 2009 and 2010. For the past two years, Johnny has been homebound due to illness but continued to enjoy the gospel preached on TV, and found time to watch Westerns and the New York Yankees! Throughout this period of time as a shut-in, he remained the gentle giant deeply loved by so many.

...His family was the hub of his life here and all who knew him were aware of his devotion and love for Nora, and the wonderful “fatherly” love he showered on his son, Barry and his wife, April, and his daugh-ter, Brenda and her husband, Mike. The three grand-children, Matthew Sasser, Simon Sasser, and Caitlin Ulrich not only brought great joy to his life, they were adored by their papa.

First Session:

La Grange Missionary Baptist Church

(201 N Caswell St, La Grange 28551)

Monday, October 23 at 7:00PM

Speaker: Dr. Mark Creech

Your Annual Meeting Committee has been

working, putting together what promises

to be a special time for all. Our Theme

for the year is “Be On Guard”, with

1 Peter 5:8 as our theme verse. This year,

we’ll be receiving a love offering —

something we haven’t done for quite a

while — however, each penny received

will go to our NC Baptist On Mission team

who continues to work, serve, and

minister to those whose lives changed

forever within our communities due to

Hurricane Matthew last October.

Please make plans to attend one or both

sessions — you won’t want to miss it!

Second Session:

Seven Springs Baptist Church

Annual Church Profiles

Q: Why should your church concern itself

with completing the ACP?

A: When churches report their prior year ’s

information, it helps to display the big picture of

how churches within our entire denomination

are functioning across the local, state, and

even national levels. Churches who document

their current leadership/staff/personnel enable

those individuals to gain access to helpful min-

istry resources and information made available

by the Association, Baptist State Convention

(BSCNC), National Convention (SBC) and

even LifeWay.

(Churches will be given a folder with the hard

copy form; however, online reporting via

www.sbcworkspace.com is not only optional

but recommended).

Call Wendy at the RTC for more info!

WMU/Women’s Ministry Salad

Buffet Event

- bring a salad to share and come enjoy the

fellowship -

Although no one knows exactly how many hymns Fanny Crosby has written, it is estimat-

ed that she has written between 8,000 - 10,000. She used more than 100 pen names, so not all her hymnals are credited to Fanny

Crosby. She has been given the title of " Queen of Gospel Songs" for composing be-

loved hymns like "Blessed Assurance", Res-cue the Perishing, "Pass Me Not O Gentle

Savior" and many more. Fanny's composition skills are even more re-

markable considering that she was blind. Come hear what brought Fanny to the point where she was able to give her life totally to

the Lord.

Event Mission Project: Please consider bringing

regular-sized women’s solid deodorants, which will

go toward WMU’s Red Box Ministry, an outreach to

incarcerated women.

OCTOBER IS

PASTOR APPRECIATION

MONTH Unique Ways to Show Appreciation

1. Surprise your Pastor and his wife by offer-ing to take them out to dinner one evening. Talk to them about something other than your problems!

2. Schedule a Sunday (well in advance) when the laymen take the Sunday services and give him a long weekend away with his wife.

3. Clean his car while he’s at the church of-fice one day!

4. Pray for him daily. Tell him you are. Ask for his prayer requests. Pray for his wife, too!

5. Remember to show appreciation for his wife! She makes many sacrifices in giving up her husband to ministry opportunities. Send her notes of appreciation, flowers, or a gift card. Express gratitude for the part she plays in the teamwork of pastoring your church. (Copied from FamilyLife.com)
