Law and Literature Course and exhibited at the Institute on November 7, 2014. The students are studying Franz Kafka’s The Trial
which has heavily influenced American Jurisprudence. It is often used by Judges to give effect to opinions of cases where the
individuals are victimized by Government. It is a compelling example of how a corrupt judicial system can confound and
overwhelm a helpless defendant. This term refers to "a scenario in which a government rule is needlessly complex to the point
of being illogical". These situations can involve an individual overwhelmed by a web of government regulations. The term
Kafkaesque is used to illustrate a scenario which a government rule or rules is needlessly complex to the point of being illogical.

become increasingly valuable and relevant to contemporary government and judicial proceedings.
