Mr. Mutz’s Counseling Corner

Hello families and students! As we wrap up our first quarter of learning

online, I wanted to give a counseling update as well as provide some helpful resources for you and your loved ones.

As many of you know, I am handling counseling duties for Kinder-5th grade while we interview applicants for the K-2 position. Due to the large number of classrooms and students in our school, I temporarily transitioned to biweekly (once every other week) lessons for classroom guidance lessons in order to remain available for individualized counseling and family technology assistance. Our amazing teachers have been so flexible and understanding of this change during these uncertain times.

I have very much enjoyed getting to spend time with the younger grade levels. Due to the amount of time students are spending online, K-5 students will be learning Internet Safety and How to Be Good Digital Citizens this month. For more practice at home, students can visit netsmartzkids.com to watch videos and play games that teach them how to be safe on the internet.

These are not normal times, so if you or your student is feeling anxious, angry or otherwise just needs to talk to someone without judgement, our district has a partnership with the University of Arizona Department of Education Counseling Program (my alma mater!) to offer free counseling services to all TUSD students and family members of TUSD students. You read that right: students AND family members can have access to a counselor via Zoom to speak about what is bothering them, and there is no need to go through insurance. Both family counseling and individualized counseling are available. If you are interested, please contact me in one of the ways below and I would be happy to make a referral for you:

Rincón de Consejería del Sr. Mutz

Hola familias y estudiantes! Vamos a terminar nuestro primer trimestre de

aprendizaje en línea, quería darles información, así como proporcionar

algunos recursos útiles para usted y sus seres queridos.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, estoy manejando deberes de consejería para

Kinder-5to grado mientras entrevistamos a los solicitantes para el puesto de

K-2. Debido a la gran cantidad de estudiantes en nuestra escuela, pasé

temporalmente a lecciones una vez cada dos semanas para lecciones de

orientación en el salón de clases con el fin de permanecer disponible para

asistir con tecnología. Nuestros increíbles maestros han sido tan flexibles y

comprensivos de este cambio durante estos tiempos inciertos.

Me ha gustado mucho pasar tiempo con los niveles de grado más jóvenes.

Debido a la cantidad de tiempo que los estudiantes están pasando en línea,

los estudiantes de K-5 estarán aprendiendo Seguridad en Internet y Cómo Ser

Buenos Ciudadanos Digitales este mes. Para más práctica en casa, los

que les enseñan cómo estar seguros en Internet.
