Dark Harvest Records:

From the minute I put the first band off their roster CD into the

CD player I knew that I was probably going to have to review all

the CD’s they sent me. So lets begin:

Sloburn- Sloburn (DarkHarvest Records)

This Virginia five piece is straight up American metal. Dubbing them-

selves as “redneck” metal. It’s very bluesy and very powerful with songs

like “Dark Fortress” I wouldn't be surprised if this new genre of redneck

metal takes off. With songs like “Country Boy” convincing us of staying

true to this genre and bluesy songs like “Never Live Again”. Personal

pick off this album is “Lucky 13”

Sloburn: 3 out of 5 stars

Herod-The Curse Of The King (Dark Harvest Records/Lifeforce Records)

An 80’s power thrash band from NY. From the very first note you are

sucked into their music. The first track “Sexuality” is an amazing track

with great solos (which you don't hear bands these days do too often).

And “The Dark Deceiver” has some Megadeth overtones. Exceptional

thrash metal and probably one of the best albums ive heard in quite

awhile.

Personal pick: “The Dark Deceiver”

Herod: 4.5 out of 5 stars

ARES-Kill/Gore/Sledge (Dark Harvest)

A young, fast and brutal band from Florida. Where else but Florida

does most of the best death metal bands come from? Very technical

drumming even progressive at times especially on “Acid Web”. Av-

erage age of this band is 18. Very good arrangements

Personal Pick: “Of Sludge and Grime”

ARES: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Bloodtribe-1369: the death and dying chapters (Dark Harvest)

This album just makes you want to throw stuff around and tear

stuff up. From first track “Only Blood” to the last “The Death and

Dying Chapter” this album is just straight forward and in your

face. Aggressive vocals and Ear Piercing screams opening for such

bands as Macabre, Obituary, Daath, Neuraxis I think these guys

will be around for a long time.

Personal Pick: “Only Blood”

Blootribe: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Fates Burden: My Addiction (Dark Harvest)

If you are looking for an album that just plain rocks then you

need to pick up Fates Burdens new album “My Addiction”. A lot

of the vocals kind of remind me of Phil Anselmo of the great

band Pantera especially the title track “My Addiction”. This al-

bum I kept listening to over and over because its just such a

great album.

Personal Pick: “Worth”

Fates Burden: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Final Curse-Constructing the Destructive (Dark Harvest Records)

Classic thrash metal at its finest. From the old school sound of Met-

allica comes Final Curse. Ask them and they will tell you its “We

bring you 100% No Bullshit Thrash Metal” Their song “Slie” has

classic slayerish riffs. I can certainly visualize them being also a band

you would want to see live as well.

Personal Pick: “Slie”

Final Curse: 3 out 5 stars

Other Band Reviews:

Dynamo is a fresh sound out of

Brazil. Thrash metal taken to a

new level. A lot of great break

downs. This is the band every-

body is going to be talking

about for times to come. Great

melodic vocals and simple but

yet crushing guitar riffs.

Marc Rodriguez has just put out

his debut album “Vagabond”. It

is in the vein of Judas Priest,

Mercyful Fate, and Hammer-

fall. This album has all the in-

credients for a great power

metal album. Twin leads, great

riffs, and double bass drum-

ming. Marc is now auditioning

for his next project.

Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Emergency November is just

one of those bands that makes

you feel like you are on a jour-

ney. In the vein of Sepultura,

Cavalara Conspiracy, Pantera.

Good melodic guitar playing.

One of Richmond Va. Great

bands at the moment. Catchy

hooks and solid arrangements

and impressive solos.

A Broken Method is a commer-

cial rock band from Tulepo MS.

They are known for the live

shows been a “Hard Rock Party

Music” experience. If you want

a band you can sit back and

listen to and just jam off of then

a broken method is the band for

you. In the context of Lynard

Skynard, Molly Hatchet.

Dystrophy is full speed ahead

death metal. Certainly to make

their own mark in the death

metal genre. With harsh vocals

and brutal guitar riffs makes

your head spinning nonstop. Its

very hard to pinpoint where

their influences are because it is

so chaotic. Just give it a listen

and I assure you your brain will

melt.

Session Nineteen is very ener-

getic band that is poised to

write the best possible music

while capturing all the emo-

tions. I wouldn't be surprised if

these guys are signed within

the next year. With their over

dark and melodic sound fans

are sure to love this.

Video Game Review

Welcome to our first video game review I hope there is more in the future.

Shadow Realm:

Is an old school online person vs. person game for the PC. Excellent graphics

I play it a lot myself. It is a bit complex to setup. You may have to email

David for questions but once you get it setup it is worth the wait. Come and

see why it was ranked the #1 game at Ultima Online in 2008. You can

download the client free at the address below.
