“Ons troudag was iets uit 'n sprokies verhaal, by een van die top venues in die land naamlik Tramonto, met kleure van pienk,

silwer en swart, stargazers, ‘n sjokolade fontein en ons openings dans liedjie was "Love Story”, want dis hoe ek my en Wynand

sien, as twee mense wat hul pad gevind het na mekaar met die genade van God en dat ons troudag die begin was van ons eie

liefdesverhaal! “

Avoiding disaster…

Page 3: October News

Even after months and months of planning for a wedding, it's inevitable that something will go wrong, right?

WRONG! … certainly not at Tramonto!

There are three things that make or break your wedding, your Master of Ceremonies, your menu selection and most

importantly your DJ. The DJ is responsible for ensuring that everything concerning your sound & music runs

smoothly throughout your celebration.

Here are a few things to take into consideration when choosing a DJ for your special day:

• The meeting. Corresponding over email is simply not enough when it comes to your DJ, you need to be able

to have a face to face meeting and get a feel for the person behind the music, for those travelling form far a

proper phone conversation will do you fine.

• The sore eye. Sound equipment significantly visible in the reception is certainly undesirable, ask you DJ what

your options are for making those nasty speakers disappear within the décor.

• Guest satisfaction. Why not have your guests fill in a small list of favourite songs during welcome time while

you are off having your photo’s done, this will also avoid that one rowdy guest that falls over the DJ box

when making requests.

• Experience. How many years have they been in the industry?

• The List. Your first dance, entering the church & venue, the cutting of the cake, these are all special

moments, best to have the DJ well informed beforehand, one can never be too organized!

• Style & Genre. It is so important to make the DJ aware of your music preferences, there is nothing worse

than sombre love songs.. get the happy going from the start!

• The Reference. Remember that most engagements arise by word of mouth and recommendation goes a long

way.

Music is a great way to reflect your personality and set the tone for a great party and is perhaps the most important

element of making your guests remember the good time they had for quite some time to come.

Did you know? The phrase “to tie the knot” means to make an unbreakable pledge. Actual knots have been used in

marriage ceremonies for some time and the tradition of trying the wrists of the bride and groom with twine

continues today in marriages in the use of sashes. The word 'knot' has been associated with marriage since the 13th

century.

Congratulations to Tramonto’s future Blushing Brides….

All that Glitters…

Don’t you even think of lying to me! You know you love them. Square-cut or pear-shaped, these rocks don’t lose

their shape. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend!

There is a certain enigmatic quality to shiny things, which I have always been fascinated by. I know my reverence for

all that glitters is shared by many – especially brides who are planning the wedding of their dreams.

Could any theme be more appropriate?

Here are a few tips on creating your own crystal-encrusted wedding celebration:

- Introduce an elegant, bold yet understated floral element. Stick to using only one variety of flower and cut

down on the use of foliage.

- The ‘glitter’ look is all about accessories – stock up on sequin scatter cushions, gilded mirrors (seating plan),

sparkly napkin-rings and crystal wedding favours. Although size does matter always keep subtlety in mind

(the same rule does not apply for your engagement ring!).

- The introduction of an opulent damask tablecloth will instantly transform the room. Combined with the

charming silver tiffany chair (available at Tramonto) your look is on the right track!

- Replace the standard glassware with crystal glassware (available for hiring). This will lend a wonderful air of

sophistication to your table settings.

- Garnish your champagne glasses with a tiny sliver of gold-leaf (edible) – your guests will think you are

terribly fancy!

- Dust your wedding cake, dessert and mother-in-law with edible glitter…

Remember: carats are not the vegetables you serve as a side dish with peas. It’s time to indulge…it’s your wedding,

so shine!

Enjoy!

DCM Cape Pioneer Trek – 18 – 23 October 2010

Dryland Event Manager, Henco Rademeyer, promises that at least 30% of this year’s

route is ‘virgin terrority’. Apparently nobody has ever cycled on the single-track sections, some of which date back to

the days of the Voortrekkers and British Settlers.

When organizing any of their events, their policy is based on two principles. The first and most important principle is

that riders who enter a Dryland event should enjoy every moment that they spend on their mountain bikes.

Secondly, they want the riders to feel safe while they are riding.

Rademeyer and his colleagues have undoubtedly struck on a winning recipe. For the past two years the MTN

Attakwas race was voted by the riders to be the most popular one-day event of the year. Considering that it is also

regarded to be one of the toughest races, this is a huge compliment. This year the Attakwas is basically the first stage

of the Cape Pioneer Trek.

Pinotage on Tap 2010 Cape Town – 30 October 2010

Pinotage on Tap (POT) promises to be a party of note, celebrating 10 years of wine making and the release of the

original ‘coffee and chocolate’ Diemersfontein Pinotage.

Leave your stresses and troubles behind and join the party. Oak barrels flowing with pinotage will be there for the

sipping, canapés that pair well will be there for the munching – and the pinotage challenges will be more frivolous

than ever!

Besides quaffing and chomping, you could some frolicsome pinotage games or express your cool moves to the

sounds of live music. Delicious Mexican chilli hot chocolate or cocoa dusted cappuccinos will be on tap, slices of your

favourite chocolate gooey cakes; fountains of chocolate and strawberries for dipping.

If hunger still bites, they will be firing up the braais later in the afternoon. Tickets include Pinotage for the day, a food

goodie bag on arrival, canapés, chocolate fountains and bands.

Venue: Diemersfontein Wine and Country Estate

Guillaume & Lealta

If there ever was a no fuss, totally relaxed, bubbly, calm & serene bride to be found, Lealta would be it!

Guillaume & Lealta met each other five years ago at a casual braai, according to Lealta the love that they found that

same night keeps growing every day. “When we are together nothing can bring us down, we cling to each other and

simply can’t bear to be without each other!”

“We originally had Venue linen up for our wedding celebration but after being guests at a wedding held at Tramonto

we, (almost in unison) realized just there and then that THIS IS WHERE WE WANT TO GET MARRIED!! No other place

would do!”

Page 10: October News

“When I arrived at Tramonto on the morning of my wedding everything was already perfectly tailored and set out, I

was spoiled like a princess in the guesthouse and everyone was at my beck and call!”

“Our wedding was truly ‘n dream day and we would like to thank everyone that made it possible for us!”
