    The mission of Metroparks of the Toledo Area is to conserve the regions natural resources by creating, developing, improving, protecting, and promoting clean, safe, and natural parks and open spaces for the benefit, enjoyment, education, and general welfare of the public.

    Hours of OperationAll Metroparks open daily, 7 a.m. until dark. Admission: Free. Other hours and fees apply to specific attractions.

    ProgramsMetroparks programs and activities encompass a wide variety of interests related to the park districts purpose. Programs are open to everyone. Children must be accompanied by adults unless noted as a drop-off program.

    Metroparks TrailsTrails in each of the Metroparks offer a variety of distances and experiences, from winding dirt paths through the woods and prairies, to hard-surface all-purpose trails suitable for bicycling and skating. Oak Openings Preserve also has horse trails.

    Under The Moon 5K Run/WalkJoin Metroparks, the Toledo Roadrunners Club and Daves Running Shop for a special event under the light of the moon. Run against the clock or enjoy a walk on the 3.1 mile trail course. Special lighting will help guide the way but flashlights and headlamps are suggested. This is a fun event for all; there will be no official timing or scoring so go at your own pace. Along with a great Autumn run/walk under the moon, enjoy roaring fire pits, apple cider, smores, music and learn from Metroparks Natu-ralist What sings in the night?     Tombstone Bicycle TourTake a fun and not-too-scary tour of the countryside in this Halloween-themed bike ride. Wear your costume (and your bike helmet!). The well-marked, 38-mile route winds past seven cemeteries: Imma-culate Conception, Sharples, Swanton, Byrd Family, Winslow, Birchfield Family and Wolfinger. Riders will be provided with a map and route notes. There will be a SAG Wagon in the event of a breakdown or injury. Lunch stop at Oak Openings and cider stop at MacQueens Orchard included with registration.     Family Haunted Bike RideEspecially designed for families with children 12 and under.     A Cup Of Christmas: Holiday Tea At StranleighEnjoy a delightful Tea At Stranleigh among the splendor of Holidays in the Manor House. Seating for this new event is limited and reservations must be pre-paid. Guests will enjoy an extra delicious morning tea, with musical entertainment, followed by a leisurely stroll of the fabulously decorated Manor House before it is opened to the public.     The Canal ExperienceMake a reservation to float back to 1876 aboard a replica canal boat at The Canal Experience at Providence Metropark. This is the only site in Ohio where mules still pull a boat through an original 19th century lock. After one hour of instruction, participants will have the opportunity to practice their skill independently.     Overnight Backpacking AdventureEnjoy the unique scenery of the Oak Openings Preserve and discover one of the hidden gems of northwest Ohio on this naturalist-led 15.5 mile overnight backpacking experience. Many of these well-known travel routes and destinations first found notoriety in written history as significant points during General Anthony Waynes 1794 campaign.
