Please support our advertisers. Their ads help support Saint Catherine
buildings, grounds, and ministries. Saint Luke is also known for “writing” the icon of the Theotokos
called “Odigitria”, “Directress”. This portrayal of the Theotokos is on the right icon stand by the Solea railing in our church.

We have started another wonderful new year with our Philoptochos family, and we
would like other ladies of our parish to come join us for our meetings this year.
Our second meeting will be Tuesday, October 16, at noon with a light lunch
followed by our meeting.
Our annual Autism Tea will be on November 10, and we welcome our
parishioners to attend our special annual benefit for Autism and other Charities.
Also in November we host the Saint Catherine Hierarchical Vespers evening
reception. At our December meeting we bring toys for youngsters and gifts for
teens at the Children’s Home Society, and one of two bake sales will be in
December for Christmas Pastry and Vasilopites. Philoptochos also arranges for
Christmas and Pascha plants for the Solea as well as for flowers for other occasions
during the year. In January we host the Vasilopita Sunday Coffee Reception to
benefit Saint Basil Academy. In February we will be fully busy with the Festival
Bakery booth, which is the Philoptochos’ responsibility. In April we have our
Pastry and Tsourekia (with red eggs) sale.
Besides all the above, we sell our Tsourekia, Koulourakia and various goodies
all year so we can have money coming in to support our Metropolis and National
commitments and give to many local organizations along with supporting our own
Church Agape Fund. We help wherever the need is, and each year it may be
different.
Please join us at our meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month except for
December, when we will meet on the second Tuesday and February, when we will
be busy with our Festival and will meet on the fourth Tuesday.
In His Service,
Diana Patrick,
Philoptochos President

Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church - Endowment Fund Report
The fund was established on November 20, 1997 for the “purpose of insuring the financial security and perpetuation” of our church.
The fund is to be managed by eight (8) Trustees.
Required to serve are: the Proistamenos (Father Andrew Maginas) though Father cannot vote; the parish President (George Psoinos) and the parish Treasurer (Nicholas Smith) along with five (5) members in Financial Good Standing who are elected by the Parish Council.
Those five (5) are Nicholas Anadiotis; Dimitrios Panagoulias; Donna Ryan; Vicki Sarides, Recording Secretary; and Demetrios Theodossakos, Chairman.
As of August 31, 2018, the Investment Portfolio totals $473,323, with the asset allocation as follows: 41% Equity; 42% Fixed Income; 17% Cash
The portfolio is managed by our Financial Advisor, Theodore Peroulakis, with all funds at Merrill Lynch.
On the next page is a photograph of The Giving Tree, which is hanging on a wall in the Hellenic Cultural Center. That page also provides some basic information on the Fund and the various donation options.
Your participation in the Endowment Fund provides an opportunity to assist in the future financial security of our church while also enabling you to memorialize yourself or your family as part of our Saint Catherine family now or to remember the Fund in your Will.

THE GIVING TREE
The Endowment fund serves as a strategic reserve by providing for the future financial security for our Church. It was created thanks to the initial donation of one generous parishioner who is now deceased. With the tax deductible donations, one can keep their and their family’s memory eternal. This can be accomplished in different ways:
By Monetary donations
By donating Stocks, Bonds or any other financial instrument
By designating St. Catherine Endowment Fund as a beneficiary to a life insurance policy
By remembering St. Catherine Endowment Fund in one’s will
The “Giving Tree” hanging in our Cultural Center helps to memorialize the generous donors of the fund. One can pledge the amount of one’s choice and pay it immediately or over a period of five years. Once the pledge has been satisfied, the names are engraved and included on the tree in the following manner: $1,000-$2,999 Bronze Leaf
$3,000-$6,999 Silver Leaf
$7,000-$9,999 Gold Leaf
$10,000-$19,999 Small Stone
$20,000 and up Large Stone
For any further information, please call the Church Office at 561-833-6387.

THANK YOU TO OUR
FAITHFUL VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteers who assembled the September Lamplighter mailing:
Andrea Cora, Elli Kalafatis, Annette Mitchell, Angie Nys,
Fannie Patsis, Evangelia Pikounis, Vicki Sarides and Linda Telepas
We couldn’t do it without you!
Dear Parishioners:
Some of our stewards have stated that they do not want to receive the Lamplighter via the U.S.
Postal Service, as they prefer to access it online in full color at stcatherine-wpb.org. This would
also result in some savings in office expenses for paper, ink and labor. If you wish us to discontinue
mailing the Lamplighter to your home please send an email to: [email protected].
We will notify you each month and send you a direct link to the current Lamplighter.
REMEMBER THE CHURCH IN YOUR WILL!
