Importance of 'Coding' for students:
In our daily lives, we indulge in Coding and this can be seen in the
various acvies that we undertake. Coding is used in the fields of
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathemacs (STEM). In
Computer Technology, programming and soware begin with Coding.
If Coding is included in the school curriculum, it will enable students to
learn Logical Thinking, Teamwork, Crical Thinking, Decision Making
and Creave Thinking through various projects. Thus, Coding will help
in developing the thinking capacies of the children.
For the implementaon of Coding classes, 60 instructors were given a Masters training in the month of October.
Later, 250 – 300 Sancharaks were trained in the months of October and November. The week of December
4th - 9th, 2017 was celebrated as the 'Coding Week'. More than 40,000 children across the states of
Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Uar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal from standard VII,
VIII and IX were trained at 'Coding'. With the help of video-based learning, Coding was taught in Marathi, Hindi
and English. During this week, students prepared videos, games, projects like Electric Circuit, Law of Sound
Reflecon, Water Cycle, Traffic Rules and many more using Coding. They shared their experiences while making
these presentaons.

What I learnt from my computer class
I am Sahil Das, a student of class 8 at Shree Bhara High School, Kolkata. I live in
Saradapally, but we are originally from Bihar. I live with my parents and sister. I th
am the youngest in the family. Aer compleng class 10 , my elder sister
couldn't study further due to our financial condion and she got married. My
father is a school bus driver. He couldn't afford the educaon of two children. I
feel very bad that my sister couldn't pursue higher studies. Neither of my th
parents have cleared the class 10 exam. They both want me to complete higher th
studies. When I was in Std. 4 , I aended a computer class for the first me. At
that me we couldn't do much with it. But now we are using our computer class in a beer way. This year,
we learned about Corel Draw, Photoshop, emails and data storage devices. Now new videos are helping us
understand our projects. The more I watch the videos, the beer I get at my projects. Earlier, we learned
Scratch which is my favorite. Now I am learning one of the most interesng things ever…..Photoshop! Every
me I went to a photo studio, I wondered how they did all those effects on the photos. Now I know a lile
about how this is done. I can even make a vising card, CD covers and much more. Photoshop has given me
a new dream in my life and that is creang websites with graphic effects.
I don't have a computer at home but my friend
Karthik has one. When I go to his house, we play
games and watch movies on the computer. I helped
him to create an email ID and taught him to write
emails. My computer teacher at school taught me
all this. My father bought a smart phone which I
can operate. I taught my parents how to use the
smart phone. The other thing I learned from my
computer class is how to work in groups as well as
individually. I want to become a business man to
help my family so that I can earn enough money
and we can live as rich and happy families do. My
father is an inspiraon to me. He told me that one
should never break down no maer what problem
arises.

My name is Vikas Gharat. I am 21 and currently pursuing BA from GSP College
Talasari. There are 8 members in my family. Wherein my mother is a home maker
and my brother and one sister are working in a company. Our annual home thincome is 40,000 rupees. I developed an interest in Warli Art when I was in the 8
standard. But I had no support because of our financial instability. Though I
always sketch and paint whenever I get me, the fact remains that I am not
trained.
One day I got to know about the Warli Art Center in Talasari and the training that
was going on there for those who wanted to polish or learn Warli Art. I visited the
center and found that this course was for 3 months. It included developing
different skills like, line paern, different forms of dance, ceremony, agriculture during tribal days, painng
on bamboo and cloth and many such types of skills which I was looking for.
Aer compleon of this course I am happy to tell everyone that I have seen changes in my work. Earlier I was
painng aimlessly without techniques of Warli Art. And for all these I would like to thank our teachers and
trainers for polishing my skills and helping me to become a good arst. I promise that I will connue my
interest and one day I will start my own business.
Recently few of my painngs have been sold at the price of 500 rupees each and I am very happy to see
myself geng closer to my dreams. I would like to thank Pratham InfoTech Foundaon and L&T Public
Charitable Trust for giving me this opportunity.
