Dear Parishioners,
The month of October is dedicated to the Rosary. I encourage you all, if you do not already pray this prayer regularly, to find your
rosary beads, or buy some, and try to pray it at least a few mes. The regular pracce of praying the Rosary has and will connue to
change lives and to bring people back to God. It is a simple way of reflecng on the Scripture and bringing ourselves into the presence
of Our Lord and His blessed mother.
This weekend, on Sunday 7th October at 2pm, there will be a musical concert in our church. This has been organized on behalf of Cath-
olic Missions and so I encourage you to come along and spend an enjoyable couple of hours while supporng our missions around the
world.—Fr. Sunnyl

OCTOBER—MONTH OF THE ROSARY October is tradionally the month when we honour our Lady by recing the rosary more
oCen. In our parish, the rosary is recited each weekday aCer the 9am Mass—why not try
and join in this prayer someme during the month?
Archbishop Costelloe has marked the month in a special way by publishing a reflecon
resource based on the Hail Mary, tled “Mary in the Year of Grace.” You can collect one
of these from the “Prayer Board” in the foyer, or download a copy from
www.thefaith.org.au
We have rosaries of all kinds available in the piety stall at the back of the church and in
the parish centre, as well as leaflets which show you how to pray this wonderful prayer.
According to Tradion, Our Lady appeared to St. Dominic in 1206AD, giving him the
Rosary as “a mighty weapon” and told him to teach it to others. Since the prayers of the
Rosary come from such excellent sources—from Our Lord himself, from inspired Scripture and from the Church—it
is not surprising that the Rosary is so dear to Our Blessed Mother and so powerful in Heaven.

Personal Advocacy Often it is not easy for people with intellectual disability to respond to their desire to be part of the community of faith. People with intellectual disabilities are not always able to negotiate their way through complex relationships found within small groups; they need a friend from the parish to help them. A friend who will share the faith journey, this is Personal Advocacy. Becoming a volunteer friend in the Personal Advocacy group means you don’t need prior experience, training is provided.
• You are linked 1:1 with a person who has an intellectual disability
• You meet once a week on the same day/night, your friend comes
every second week within a school term. You meet in the restful environment at 28 Holdhurst Way Morley on Wed mornings/or Thursday night.
• You form a small faith group where relationships flourish and you find support and
friendship.
• You engage in activities such as painting, craftwork, working with clay or enjoying
music to help you unwind. Over time, personal relationships develop which role-model the relationship that Jesus wants to have with each one of us – a gentle friendship that leads us to the Father. If you would like to find out more with no commitment necessary, register your interest to attend the next available information night. [email protected] or phone 92755388 and leave a message. We will return the call.
