Distinguished Visiting Professor
Mahmood F. Mafee, MD FACR Clinical Professor of Neuroradiology Section Chief, Head and Neck Radiology UC San Diego Medical Center
Dr. Mafee, one of the foremost authorities on head and neck imaging, received his MD in 1969 from the University of Tehran, Iran, completed radiology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Illinois at Chicago, and fellowship in Neuroradiology and Head and Neck Radiology at University of Illinois. He remained at that institution for most of his career, rising to the rank of Professor of Radiology in 1985, Director of Eye and Ear Infirmary Radiology (1981-2006), Director of the MRI Center (1987-2003), and Chairman of Radiology (1996-2003). Dr. Mafee retired from the University of Illinois at Chicago to work at the University of California in San Diego. Dr Mafee has been a prolific author covering every aspect of Head and Neck Radiology as well as Neuroradiology. He is a leading authority in advanced CT and MRI imaging of ocular and orbital diseases. The 2006 American Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ASHNR) Gold Medal Award is among the numerous prizes he has received during his distinguished career. In 1992, he served as the 17th President of the ASHNR and was selected by the Conjoint Committee for Radiology at AFIP for the 1993-94 Distinguished Scientist in the Department of Radiologic Pathology.
