COSMETIC INSPECTION AND CODES – VARIABLE DATA CHECK OCV is a multifunction system able to perform several types of cosmetic inspections and codes-variable data verifications with the highest flexibility OCV is the most versatile vision system manufactured by SEA Vision, designed to meet a wide variety of inspection needs required by the customers. Initially conceived as an optical characters recognition application, it evolved then to a multifunction system able to perform several types of controls with the highest flexibility, both from cosmetic and from codes/data point of view. OCV’s structure is modular and scalable: its software’s detection functionalities can be increased later in time, since to every inspection type a specific licence is associated. Here below a list of the main controls:
Codes reading (1D or 2D).
Characters verification and recognition. OCV offers reading robustness even with printings made with different technologies, such as: high speed digital,
laser and inkjet printings. The recognition is performed in case of dark printing on light background and vice versa. The system is able to detect printings on several surfaces: plastic-, metal-, aluminium- or paper-made surfaces.
Geometric or shape-related controls on the packaging, to identify possible anomalies or defects.
Serialization and aggregation: OCV is part of the complete SEA Vision’s Track & Trace solution.
Product’s integrity through the “Programmable Measures” tool: it is a versatile instrument that allows to perform a wide variety of special controls; it consists in a library of images processing operations, enabling the operator to create an images analysis application, with customized tolerances.

In order to support the user about the system’s programming, OCV offers a Wizard guiding the operator to the creation of new work formats. OCV is available in two versions, Evolution and Lite, that are mainly different in terms of system’s expandability.
OCV EVOLUTION OCV Evolution is the multifunction system designed to perform several control operations without expandability limits. This system is able to manage several packaging machines at the same time, thus guaranteeing high control performances on the whole packaging line.
OCV LITE OCV Lite is particularly suitable for applications that require a limited number of controls, using max. 2 cameras.

PQV check: printing quality verification by comparing the image to be controlled and its reference model, through identification of the exceeding or missing parts
Programmable measures: configurable instrument of images analysis that allows to set up measurement’s parameters, in order to reach a defined control target
FDA CFR 21, part 11: set up of multi-users permissions to access the system, through the identification and management of the enabled users
Cartons in case check: verification of the cartons in case presence/absence
Printers management: programming of the supported printer through dedicated communication protocols, with the possibility to initialize the production batches directly from the vision system, sending automatically the relevant data to the printer
Serialization: it is a software tool enabling to read the serialized code including a series of functional licences: characters, codes, supported printer’s management for serialization, progressive bollino, CFR 21, ansi grading
Aggregation: parent-child association between the serialized code printed on the carton/bottle and the serialized code on the label applied to the case, where the carton is inserted
