We Take Action for OC

Orange County Young Democrats are the boots on theground that make political actions happen. We pull our

campaigning ability from a network of statewide youngprofessionals, college and high school students.

Political Action:2010 California Young Democrats Project of the Year:OCYD organized a two day political action contactingmore than 1,000 young voters in youth dense precinctsaround Cal State Fullerton, encouraging them to vote forDemocrats all the way down the ticket. OCYD went doorto door in the very places where young Democrats liveand hang out, places that are too often ignored bytraditional campaigns.

Leadership:Orange County Young Democrats were the first YoungDemocrat chapter in California to hire a paid executivedirector, Doug Arsenault (top), who successfullymanaged OCYDs $15,000 GOTV program reaching10,000 voters in the final weeks of the 2010 election.

Visibility:Orange County Young Democrats demand attention.This year OCYD chartered a bus, booked hotel rooms,and traveled to CA Democratic State Convention withover 30 young volunteers to bring statewide attentionto the struggle of Costa Mesa public union workers.Utilizing social media strategies and traditional visibilitytactics, OCYD was able to secure over 900 signaturesfor the Repair Costa Mesa campaign in just two days.

Were Ready for 2012Orange County Young Democrats knowwhat it takes to win in 2012. Since theearly 1990s, OCYD has been activelyengaged in grooming, funding, andelecting Democrats throughout OrangeCounty.

In 2003 Young Democrats of Americadeveloped a peer to peer campaignmodel which has been implemented byOCYD to compile extensive volunteerlists, voter data, legislative research andstrategies to maximize the leverage andeffectiveness of our organization.

Orange County Young Democrats are infull stride in 2011. We are focused onthe 2012 election. Were excited tomobilize our youth network becausewhen we vote, Democrats win!

Changing Orange County

Orange County is changing. OCYD ismonitoring shifting voter registrationtrends and impending Congressionalredistricting. Were ready to seizepolitical opportunities throughout OC.

Obama at the Top

Orange County Young Democrats areharnessing the energy of Obamas 2012reelection campaign. Working withpartners like CA College Democrats andlocal college chapters OCYD is ready toturn out the youth vote.

Issue Based Campaigns

Young Democrats identify with issues.OCYD uses a variety of communicationstools and tactics, including our awardwinning social media team, to identify,engage, activate, and retain publics asvoters, OCYD members, and activists.

Winning Infrastructure

OCYD is increasing communicationsand tactical capacity. We are buildingour membership, strengtheningalliances, integrating technology andsecuring finances to position OrangeCounty Young Democrats as a catalystfor progressive action in Orange County.
