ODU Symphony Orchestra Woodwind/Brass Excerpts 2021-22 Please find and prepare ALL the excerpts for your instrument among the pages below. Each excerpt is indicated with red brackets [ ]. If any passages are beyond your ability, you are still encouraged to audition and play as much as you are able. All excerpts are from Bizet’s Carmen Suites 1 & 2 (with the exception of a Tuba excerpt from Wagner’s Die Meistersinger Overture). All are highly encouraged to listen professional recordings of both suites with part in hand, studying such aspects as tempo, rhythm, tone, articulation, and phrasing. Tempi should be in the ballpark of indicated markings, but always prioritize accuracy over speed. Please note the number of excerpts you have for each instrument below: Flute: 2 excerpts.
