We have partnered with Hockessin/Greenville Rotary to implement a Student of the
Month Program honoring students for their exceptional academic and social success.
One student from each building- Lower, Intermediate and Upper/High- will be
recognized each month at an Awards Breakfast. Their families will be invited to join
in the celebration.

A Message from the PTO
What an amazing, busy fun week at OCS! We kicked off the week with our fall Scholastic Book Fair and went out with a bang with our 4th annual Trunk or Treat! The PTO would like to thank all our families for making these events so successful! We especially want to thank Colleen Domanski for chairing the book fair and Kelly Padovani for chairing the Trunk or Treat! More special thanks go out to Sande Charlton and Ann Hammond for coming in every day to help with the book fair and Kristin Barker and Talia Sama for the amazing decorations! Also, to Jen Moarek from Party Girl for the face painting at family night at the book fair. Many thanks to all our volunteers who helped at the bookfair as well as Trunk or Treat! Without you these events would not be possible!”
Cooking Club had a blast making a healthy Greek Salad using pure
Olive Oil from Southern Greece. The girls have been exploring the
ins and outs of a delicious Mediterranean diet, which is a life skill
that helps us live healthier. (Next meeting will be October 30th)
HEALTH SCREENINGS AT ODYSSEY
Vision and Hearing Screenings have begun this month.
Screenings are done on all Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 10th grade students, as
well as special education students and students new to Delaware public schools.
If any deficits are found, a letter recommending a referral will be sent home.
*Please make sure all students bring their glasses and hearing aids every day.*
Posture Screenings (scoliosis) will be completed for all 5th through 9th grade
students by the end of November. When a date is set, a letter will be sent home
to let you know when, what students should wear, and what they should expect
during the screening.
If your child has been seen by a doctor for spine/back concerns, please let your
child's school nurse know.
COSTUME PARADE – LOWER SCHOOL Please join us for The Annual Lower School Costume Parade. It will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 for Grades K – 2 (See Location and Grade Level Schedule below).
Costume Guidelines • Costumes should go over the students’ uniforms.• Costumes should not be derogatory in nature nor should they promote violence.• Students are not permitted to wear masks, make-up, or bring fake weapons.
Parent Information - Parade • Please park in one of the following locations:
o HS Parking Loto Front of Building 23o Behind Building 23
• Gather at the blacktop where the students have recess on the side of our building.Stand/Sit on the sides of the lot as shown below.
• Take pictures, smile, and wave to your children and their friends.• Students will do 3 laps.

• 3rd and 4th grades will parade during their recess time and have their parties on
Wednesday, October 31st.
o Parade will be out in the field and marked off.
• All students are allowed to wear a Halloween top on Wednesday, October 31st.
o Must wear uniform bottoms
ATTENTION all OCS 6TH, 7th, & 8th Graders:
The first dance of the year is finally here! When: Friday, October 26th
Time: 7-9 p.m. Where: Odyssey Charter School’s Small Gym
(in between bldgs. 21 and 22) Drop-off & pick-up will be the same as Car Line during the week
Cost: $5 per student *Pay at the door!
Dress is casual and school appropriate! Students may wear Halloween costume accessories, such as headpieces, necklaces,
hats, etc. No masks, weapons, or fake blood!

Odyssey Charter School’s Veterans Day Breakfast
This year our school and our Rho Kappa members would like to celebrate and honor those veterans within our school community. We will be hosting a breakfast on Thursday November 8, 2018 from 9-10am for our parents and grandparents who have served our nation.
