All of his books base around dealing with the economic problems of rural labour.

He failed as a free-lance in New York, his most successful book is about two farmers that move to California because they failed to make a living.

The title of John Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men is taken from the poem of Robert Burns, "To a Mouse, On Turning Her Up in Her Nest with a Plow," written in November of 1785.

THE GREAT DEPRESSION

The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II. Most countries started 1930s and ended in the 1940s. Unemployment in the U.S. rose to 25%, and in some countries rose as high as 33%. It happened because the fall in stock prices that began around September 4, 1929.

Migrant workers are people who move fromPlace to place during work, the great Depression took affect because it lowered Employment making it difficult to find work All the time.

The most visible evidence of how dry the 1930s became was the dust storm. Tons of topsoil were blown off barren fields and carried in storm clouds for hundreds of miles.

How does this link with Of Mice and Men?

This links to of mice and men because of the dust bowl affecting the crops. Due to crops being affected it lowers jobs around America making it difficult for workers.

The American Dream is an ethos of freedom. It is what everyone wants in America, freedom. The statue liberty was their first view of the United States, signifying new opportunities in life. The statue is an iconic symbol of the American Dream.
